Niles Brandywine vs. McBain (March 14, 12PM)
Prediction: McBain
This one was tough. With my back against a wall, I’m going with a veteran that should be considered one of the better post players in the state.
Players To Watch:
Nylen Goins Nylen Goins MI (Niles Brandywine) – The fast footed and shifty lead guard has given opponents problems for the majority of this season. If he can pressure the defense with his pace, speed and quickness it could be a long day for McBain.
Evan Haverkamp Evan Haverkamp 6'9" | PF McBain | 2024 State MI (McBain) – I’m a huge fan of this young man’s game and I think with him in the middle, McBain could hoist another trophy. He’s a long shot challenger on the defensive end and has touch around the rim on offense.
Detroit Old Redford vs. Riverview Gabriel Richard
Prediction: Riverview Gabriel Richard
This should be an instant classic. There are elite shooters and athletes all over the floor in this game. I’m going to go with the veteran guards in an instant classic.
Players To Watch:
Jaquan Stennis Jaquan Stennis 6'9" | SF Old Redford | 2026 State MI (Old Redford) – Stennis is a highlight reel type of wing player. He’s an absolute playmaker in the open floor and is so dangerous when he fills the wing on a break. Stennis uses his length to shield the ball and get to the rim.
Luke Westerdale Luke Westerdale 6'1" | SG Gabriel Richard | 2025 State MI (Riverview Gabriel Richard) – I called my shot saying earlier that Westerdale and Sobush were one of the best backcourts in the state. Well, here they are. Westerdale is an elite shooter that can score like a high level and handle and distribute like an elite lead guard.
