Best Performance: Trey Simpson Trey Simpson 6'7" | PF Hilcrest-Evergreen | 2025 State AL (6’7/G|F|C/’25/Hillcrest-Evergreen)

There has not been a performance this week like the one Trey put on in the championship game. He impacted every area of the stat sheet and was just too much for the young Midfield squad. The scariest thing about what Trey did is the fact that he is a Junior and has another season to go. He is a lengthy prospect who can play all five positions. He is crafty on the low block and in the mid-range as a scorer and a passer. His length was just too much on the boards and on the defensive end of the floor. He put together an amazing performance as he, in the words of Ice Cube, ‘messed around and got a triple-double.’ He definitely will see his ranking go up in the next ranking drop because he solidified himself as one of the Top 5 in his class.
Best Scorer: Micah Caster Micah Caster 6'1" | PG Jackson | 2024 State AL (6’1/CG/’24/Jackson)
X: @Micah2Caster
This was my first time seeing Micah and his squad play. I must admit that I had him ranked extremely low because even though his name was sent to me, I could not get much on him from sources. However, I no longer need sources because what I witnessed in the Class 4A Championship game was nothing but phenomenal. He is one of the state’s most dynamic scorers and did it in both games on the biggest stage of the year. He is a legit multi-level scorer who is lethal from behind the arc, off the bounce, and in his c&s opportunities. He has deep range from behind the arc, and he beats defenders off the rip or the bounce with a quick first step. He has a strong scoring prowess and a loaded toolbox to get it done. Micah’s offensive game is very potent, as he has a knack for getting to his spots to get his shot off. As good as he is on offense, he didn’t take a break on the defensive end of the floor as he was a disruptive defender.
Best 3-Pt Shooter: Carson Thrasher Carson Thrasher 5'10" | SG Mars Hill | 2024 State AL (5’10/SG/’24/Mars Hill)
IG: thrashercarson
Carson had a very efficient championship game, especially from behind the arc, as he went 4-4 from three. He was the best shooter in the game and one of the best in the entire Final Four. There isn’t anything flashy about his game, but he can score the rock and is highly productive from distance.
Best Floor General: Davis Glynn Dare (5’9/Point Guard/’24/ACA)
IG: davis_dare_2
X: @davisdare_1
Davis is a mature lead guard with experience, and his play for his team was what every coach desires from their leader and PG. Davis balances scoring and facilitating, and even though he struggled from the field, he handled Jackson’s pressure and executed exceptionally well at times. Davis showed his vision, passing skills, PG IQ, and grit as he left it all on the floor in his final high school game. He has toughness and the intangibles to lead a program at the next level.
Best Rebounder: Cannon Pigg Cannon Pigg 6'6" | C Mars Hill | 2025 State AL (6’6/C/’25/Mars Hill)
X: @CannonPigg
Cannon had an impactful Final Four and really left his mark on the glass. If I was doing a glass-cleaners article, he would definitely be the face of the article. He has a good physical profile and is very strong. He is very difficult to move, and once he establishes his position, he owns that space. His rebounding ability comes from both his ability to establish his position and his jumping ability. He did a good job keeping plays alive on the offensive end and holding the opponents to one shot and done.
Best Shot-Blocker: Sam Sweat Sam Sweat 6'7" | SF Mars Hill | 2024 State AL (6’7/F/’24/Mars Hill)
Sam is a lengthy wing player, who was able to block and alter shots because of his length. Several of his blocks came as a result of coming from behind on players who were unaware of his presence. He has good timing when contesting shots and was a huge factor in making it challenging for Highland Homes to get quality looks on the inside. His impact on the defensive end of the floor was felt throughout the championship game.
