2023-24 Week 17: SEPA New Names to Know

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Below is our review of four<em> “new”</em> prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) who made a name for themselves during Week 17 of the 2023-24 high school basketball season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2391454' first='Matt' last='Lyons'] </strong><strong>– 6'6” / 2025 / Holy Cross / [program_tooltip program_id='2245515' first='NEPA' last='Elite'] / Power Forward: </strong>With his size, enormous wingspan, nose for the ball, and quick second jump, Lyons is an elite shot blocker and rebounder. At the other end of the court, Lyons contributes by scoring from the blocks as well as the baseline and on dives to the cup. His ability to power through contact and finish with authority off two feet is noteworthy. Plus, with his smooth footwork and touch around the rim, Lyons can finesse his way to a bucket. Lyons recorded 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks in HC's 2A quarterfinal win. He then recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds in their 2A semis win over PPL contender Constitution.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1890474' first='Isaiah' last='Miles'] – 6'0” / 2026 / Notre Dame Green Pond / Team Jenkins / Combo Guard:</strong> On a team loaded with talented senior prospects, Miles is a 2026 contributing in several ways. Miles stretches the floor with his accurate 3-point shooting. He can serve as a secondary ball handler or move off the ball and score off the dribble. Miles rebounds well for a guard and is a plus defender. Across NDGP's final three games, Miles averaged 10 points per contest. In their District 11-3A title game loss Miles splashed 3 triples on his way to 13 points overall.   </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Michael Pergolis </strong><strong>– 5'11″ / 2025 / Devon Prep / Shooting Guard: </strong>Pergolis is well known as a quick and instinctive defensive standout who can lockdown an opponent's No. 1 option. Then during DP's run to 3A state title, Pergolis had the opportunity to display his offensive skill set. In the 2^nd Round he dropped 12 points (4 threes) in a win over Riverside. As an encore, Pergolis exploded for 22 points on the strength of 4 made threes (4 of 7) in DP's semifinal victory. Pergolis also handed out 5 assists in that contest. When he is not lacing treys or moving the ball to an open teammate, Pergolis can get out in transition and then finish through contact.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ambrose Rossi </strong><strong>– 6'3″ / 2025 / Scranton Prep / Power Forward: </strong>Rossi is a long, athletic, and solidly built (235 pounds) traditional small forward prospect. He excels at scoring from the dunker spot and on second chance opportunities. Rossi is also sneaky quick. So, he can face-up, then use one or two dribbles to attack the rim for a bucket. Rossi can finish with either hand around the rim. On defense, Rossi provides excellent rim protection. In Prep's 4A quarterfinal win Rossi posted 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. In the semifinals, Rossi poured in 17 points, but his scoring outburst was not enough to overcome Archbishop Carroll.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
