Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Though it came in a loss that would ultimately conclude his high school career, Lyons went out in admirable fashion to put a bow on a stellar playoff run and four-year career. Despite an athleticism advantage against Wheatley, Lyons showed his fundamentals with his footwork and dexterity to take advantage of the younger forward inside on a number of occasions. His ability to function as a facilitator from the frontcourt also provides a huge value to the Crusader offense. Defensively, Lyons displays strong verticality while using his size and length to deter opposing drivers at the rim. He continues to track as a gem for the small-college level as he’ll take his talents to D3 Arcadia.

The key complement to Thompson was the effective play up front of Lyons, whose night got started with the 1,000th points of his career on the Crusaders’ opening bucket. As the only true interior presence on either side, he would go on to score 12 points while imposing his will up front with his length and finishing touch. Lyons showed good hands and dexterity around the rim with a keen passing feel as well, along with the ability to face up from the midrange and take his man off the bounce. His length was a key factor on the other end as a rim protector and rebounder. Lyons looks like a strong fit for the D3 level as he looks to close his prep career with a state title.
