Custard was simply unbelievable against Mason County. There was no way he was letting them lose this game as he was involved in just about every scoring play. He was relentless getting to the basket no matter who they put on him. He shot a game high 11 free throws as he did a great job getting to the rim and drawing contact. He has such an all around game that you have to guard him on the perimeter because he is a good shooter and he proved that tonight. Custer has the ability and motor to will this Harrison team to Rupp Arena tomorrow.
Highlights
Elijah Harris
Elijah Harris
Harris is an absolute warrior. He’s the heartbeat for Harrison County on the defensive end. Has great lateral quickness and the physical tools to keep to keep anyone in front of him. He also is a tough driver that uses his leverage and speed to get to the rim. Good 3pt shooter as he knocked one down. His high motor and competitiveness is what stood out to me tonight.
Jack Feldhouse
Jack Feldhouse
Feldhouse had a solid game vs Harrison County logging a double double with 18 points 10 rebounds. He is great when catching in the high post and driving to the basket. He did a good job grabbing tough boards in traffic. He played much much older than he is only being a Sophomore. He is going to be a really good player for a while for the Royals. Big time potential.
Broc Sorgenfrei
Broc Sorgenfrei
Broc played with great poise against GRC. He played so smooth and just seems like the game comes natural to him. He knocked down some toughly and clutch shots but also broke the pressure to find open teammates all over the floor. I loved how he quickly got his feet set for shots and seemed to always be ready for the next play. Great outing for Sorgenfrei.
Connor Weinel
Connor Weinel
Weinel is an impressive player with a ton of versatility. He is was very effective around the rim but he also stepped out to shoot the 3. I really like in pick and pop situation as it kept George Rogers Clark one edge. He had a good feel around the basket to find open schemes especially dump offs.
Montez affected the game in a multitude of ways as his length bothered Campbell County on the defensive end. He was at the back of the zone making it hard for the camels to do anything in the paint. He also stepped out to hit a 3 that gave GRC some life. He is going to have a great high school career only being a Freshman. Huge upside that I am sure will make a splash in AAU this summer.
JP Gaines
JP Gaines
Gaines was a bright spot for GRC as he left it all on the floor. He was the motor for them that chased after rebounds and 50/50 balls which got him some easy baskets. Although he didn’t get the ball often, he was incredibly affected when he did. Defensively, he was all over the floor and applied a ton of pressure. You could tell Gaines was a Senior leader.
Garyn Jackson
Garyn Jackson
Jackson was rock solid again tonight leading the Camels going 3 for 3 from 3pt range and breaking the GRC pressure like a natural. He never got sped up, utilized pass fakes to get defenders running all over the place which led to a ton of open shots and layups for his teammates. Such a cool, calm and collected player that needs more attention throughout the state. Winner.
