Oak Park splits their games in Columbia.
Oak Park took a trip to Columbia on Friday and stayed overnight into Saturday. They played Father Tolton on Friday in a highly anticipated matchup and lost by double digits. Aaron Rowe Aaron Rowe 6'2" | PG Father Tolton | 2025 State #17 Nation MO and Zay Wilson did enough to outplay Corbin Allen Corbin Allen 6'5" | SG Oak Park | 2025 State #169 Nation MO and Caleb Estes Caleb Estes 6'2" | SG Oak Park | 2025 State MO leading to a win. This was a 2025 guard battle on both ends. Rowe and Wilson’s overall athletic ability was a step above the rest. This trait is what makes them two of the best guard prospects we have in the state. 2024 Javar Galbreath Javar Galbreath 6'5" | PF Father Tolton | 2024 State MO was also outstanding for Tolton. His motor ran high and he rebounded out of his area while also adding double digit rebounds. Saturday, however, was a get back on track game for Oak Park. They traveled to Battle, another top team in Class 6. After jumping out to an early lead, Battle regained control and led by multiple possessions at one point. It came down to the final possession where Caleb Estes Caleb Estes 6'2" | SG Oak Park | 2025 State MO scored an and-one to seal the game. Estes is a fast emerging 2025 who continues to make big plays in big games for this squad.
Kickapoo defeats Glendale with controversy surrounding.
Kickapoo defeated Glendale on a last second shot by Jackson Shorter Jackson Shorter 6'6" | PF Kickapoo | 2025 State MO . The victory has an asterisk next to it however. Kickapoo won 54-53 but it has been confirmed by multiple sources that 2 points were added during a timeout. It’s accepted by most that Glendale was the deserving winner which (would’ve) or was a huge upset. Sophomore guard Amare Witham Amare Witham 6'2" | CG Glendale Highschool | 2026 State MO continues to go on a scoring tear. He reached 1000 points just a game before and scored 28 in this one. Glendale has started to compete at a high level as of late. They will be a tough out in district play after proving they can give Springfield Central and Kickapoo a scare in February.
Michael Schieber steps away.
Schieber has been the only coach at Lee’s Summit West since the school had its first year of operation in 2024. His Titans have high hopes and their eyes set on a title this season but will have to do so without their beloved coach. Schieber announced that he will be stepping away from coaching due to medical reasons. Many have sent their thoughts to the coach and congratulated him for a tremendous career. Lee’s Summit West has been a powerhouse program under his leadership and many of the top talent in Kansas City has been developed in his gym for 20 years.
