Memphis, TN. — Championship Monday in Memphis was nothing short of spectacular as the final day of the Presidents’ Day Classic unfolded without a hint of disappointment. With six champions emerging victorious from six different brackets, the event showcased the competitive spirit and talent present in the field. This year’s tournament proved to be an exciting kickoff for the new calendar year on the UA Future Circuit, setting the stage for what promises to be a compelling season ahead. UA Future Turns The Corner To Their Spring Circuit
With the President’s Day Classic now concluded, the focus shifts to the remainder of the circuit, which kicks off in April. Spanning seven weekends, the circuit will make stops in 13 different cities, offering a diverse range of venues and competition. The anticipation builds as teams prepare for the rigorous schedule ahead, culminating in the highly anticipated championship weekend set to take place in Ohio in June.
Martin Brothers Knocks Off Undefeated P7
Martin Brothers has long been recognized as one of the cornerstone programs on the Under Armour Future Circuit, and their recent success solidifies their status as a dominant force in youth basketball. Their impressive performance over the weekend, securing the 5th-grade crown, underscores their dedication and talent. Their victory was particularly notable as they defeated the previously undefeated P7 Elite in a thrilling championship showdown with the final score being 49-48. The future appears bright for Martin Brothers as they continue to excel and set the standard for excellence in youth basketball from the state of Iowa.
P7 Wins In Thrilling Fashion
In the culminating showdown of the weekend, the intensity reached its peak as P7 took home the 6th grade division championship in a one point win over AIGC 52-51 in what could easily be deemed the highlight of the tournament from the 6th grade division. Brimming with talent, both teams delivered a captivating performance that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. Jayren Sears, Nickavious Williams, and Maalik Williamson spearheaded P7’s offensive charge, showcasing their prowess and determination on the court. On the opposing side, Chase Kee did everything he could in his relentless pursuit to secure victory for AIGC, demonstrating unwavering grit and skill throughout the game. Ultimately, P7 emerged triumphant in a nail-biting thriller, but the matchup undoubtedly left a lasting impression as a testament to the caliber of talent and the future of these two Southeast programs.
Two 7th Grade Champions Crowned
With two fiercely competitive divisions in the 7th grade category, spectators were treated to an exhilarating display of talent and determination. In the Curry Division, the Miami Knights emerged victorious over WER1 team in a spectacular championship showdown with the score being 82-79. Bobby Doctor’s stellar performances were instrumental in guiding the Miami Knights to their well-deserved triumph, showcasing his skill and resilience on the court. Teo Zucc also proved to be a difference maker in the paint for the victorious Miami Knights program.
Meanwhile, in the Fox Division, Union Black showcased their dominance by steamrolling through the competition en route to clinching the championship title. Led by standout performances from Jay McField and Tristan Wade, Union Black displayed exemplary teamwork and skill throughout the weekend. Despite facing a formidable opponent in the Macon Mavs, who received significant contributions from Ronnie Smith, Jamarcus Alford, Duke Howell, and Aidan Hussey, Union Black’s cohesive play and leadership propelled them to victory with the final score being 66-60, cementing their status as a formidable force in the division.
Two Programs Bring Home Hardware From The 8th Grade
The excitement in the two 8th grade divisions lived up to expectations, delivering thrilling matchups and impressive performances throughout the three days. In the Curry Division, the Mountain Stars emerged as the champions by securing a convincing victory over Martin Brothers 69-42. Marceles Duncan, Dyson Boykin, and Joel Basima showcased their leadership, athleticism and skill, guiding the Mountain Stars to success throughout the weekend with stellar contributions.
In the Fox Division, Team Fly from North Carolina capped off a perfect record by clinching the championship title with a win over CB Elite 76-61. Led by standout performances from Noah Dulin and Billy Martin, Team Fly demonstrated their talent and determination on the court, cementing their status as a formidable force in the division. Expect to hear more from the Team Fly program in the coming months as they fill a talented roster from different prospects in the Class of 2028.
