Event Superlative Award: BEST ATHLETE

Jayren Sears
Jayren Sears showcased his exceptional athleticism to deliver a diverse scoring arsenal for P7, proving to be a dynamic offensive threat throughout the Presidents’ Day Classic in Memphis, TN. Utilizing his athleticism to his advantage, Sears effectively scored in a variety of ways, displaying his versatility on the court. His ability to absorb contact and finish strongly at the rim was particularly impressive, as he consistently converted scoring opportunities despite facing smaller defenders. Sears’ athleticism and scoring ability played a pivotal role in P7’s offensive success.

Edwin Rios III

As we gave an introduction to Edwin Rios III after day one of the Presidents’ Day Classic the son of former Miami guard Eddie Rios continued to impress showcasing his skill set and maturity at the guard position. Despite his young age, Rios displayed a remarkable shooting ability, consistently knocking down shots with precision and confidence. What set him apart was his exceptional basketball IQ and court awareness, as he played with a tremendous feel for the game that belied his age. Notably, Rios demonstrated his versatility by seamlessly adjusting to playing up a division in some cases, highlighting his adaptability and ability to compete at a higher level.
Event Superlative Award: BEST DEFENDER
Chase Kee
Chase Kee
Chase Kee emerged as a standout player for AIGC, making a significant impact on both ends of the floor and guiding his team to the championship game in the 6th grade division of the Presidents’ Day Classic in Memphis, TN. A versatile player, Kee showcased his ability to score in bunches, consistently delivering clutch baskets when his team needed them the most. However, his contributions extended beyond scoring, as he also demonstrated a keen defensive prowess. Kee’s tenacity on defense enabled him to create turnovers and capitalize on fast-break opportunities, effectively turning defense into offense multiple times throughout the tournament.

West Pope’s dominant presence at the Presidents’ Day Classic was undeniable, as he commanded a significant height advantage over his peers. This advantage translated into superb rebounding on both ends of the floor, where Pope consistently controlled the boards to provide his team with crucial possessions. Additionally, Pope displayed a delicate touch around the rim, converting scoring opportunities with finesse and precision. His ability to capitalize on mismatches in the paint against smaller defenders further underscored his impact, as he efficiently scored and created scoring chances for his team.

Amari Roberts
Amari Roberts’ scoring prowess was unmistakable during the Presidents’ Day Classic in Memphis, TN where he showcased his ability to light up the scoreboard in a variety of ways. As a go-to player for the Gateway Knights throughout the weekend, he shouldered the offensive load with confidence and effectiveness. Whether driving to the hoop, knocking down jump shots, or converting from beyond the arc, Roberts proved to be a reliable scoring threat from all areas of the court.
