Each of these players is a vital piece to their team and shows an impactful style of play that leads to wins on the court for their team. Let’s tap in with some of the top available senior prospects in the DMV.
St. Andrew’s has been clicking since Alarie returned to the lineup from injury and it’s no surprise why. He has the versatility to be effective as a pick n pop threat as well as a good finisher around the rim as a roller. He rebounds the well for his size and also serves as an effective passer from the high post or low block. I expect some LM/High-Academic coaches to pull the trigger on the offers as he produces in the postseason
If there was a little more team success for Goretti this season, I would expect Wright to have a solid BCL POY candidacy as he has served as the top distributor and scorer for a solid young Gaels team. He can hit shots from the perimeter but has really improved his ability to put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket this season. He makes good decisions out of the side PnR and is effective on or off the ball
Really have enjoyed the skill development progression from Sekasi over the last 3 seasons to transition from a wing shooter to a PG that does it all for a very balanced Jackson-Reed team. His ball-handling allows him to take advantage of his halfcourt reads, he uses a herky-jerky pace to get his defender off tempo for pull-ups or blow-by finishes in the paint. His ability to play both on and off the ball have led this Summer League MVP to carry positive momentum into a productive senior season for the Tigers
Truitt has quietly filled the stat sheet throughout this season while starting for a loaded MSJ team that has won a ton of games this year (32-4, 13-1). Truitt serves as a versatile defender that can guard 3-4 positions at the high school level as he routinely takes on the top perimeter scorer. He doesn’t gamble defensively and forces some tough looks. Truitt rebounds the ball well, serves as a secondary passing hub from the wing, and scores well in the paint.
Highlights
Harris has served as a consistent offensive weapon that is a lock to score in double digits and grab 6-8 rebounds on a nightly basis. He is most effective as a physical driver to the rim but has added more perimeter polish to his game this season, hitting more stop-n-pop jumpers from the elbow while hitting more of his C+S opportunities on the perimeter. Productive games against Gonzaga at home (27p 8r) and against Cardinal Ritter in the Hoop Hall Classic (20p 4r 3s) have been key in big wins for the Knights.
Bowman has been an invaluable piece for a very young Saints team this season as a scorer, rebounder and distributor. An improved burst has gotten him to the paint for more easy looks and has led to him shooting a higher percentage at the rim– often over bigger defenders. He varies his attack each game and patiently scores from all 3 levels
Barbour has turned in a productive season as the quintessential off-ball guard this season for a young Carroll team playing for a new coaching staff. He was huge in a road victory over DeMatha (16p 3r 3a 3s) while also contributing across the board with 12p 6a 3r 2s in a close loss to SJC at home. His ability to get to loose balls and rebounds in traffic, hit contested C+S threes, and mix it up defensively has been key for the Lions this season
Although his senior season was lost to an early lower body injury in the preseason, McClary is a skilled combothat might be the best pound-for-pound rebounding guard in the area. He improved his outside shooting and worked hard to get his midrange pull-up to a viable threat this summer. He competes insanely hard defensively, provides valuable leadership on both ends of the floor, and plays unselfishly.
