[player_tooltip player_id='1563745' first='Daunte' last='White'] (LaVergne) started fantastically, blocking two shots in the game's opening five minutes. Wolverine Head Coach Tony Rutland tried to spare White from foul-likely situations by zoning 2-3 or also trapping the ball out high. Blackman scored just 15 first-half points, and while White's presence was not the only reason, he did make everything within 5' difficult.

Leading by two with four minutes left, Coach Rutland elected to go four-corners. Blackman did not foul, but pressured for minutes. Point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1578726' first='Xialin' last='Lenoir'] (LaVergne) broke by [player_tooltip player_id='1830667' first='Garrison' last='Eady'] (Blackman) and found White sliding down the baseline and gave him a bounce pass. White, extremely quiet offensively most of the night elevated to dunk two-handed atop the mob.

Eli Owens (Alcoa) played strong and sturdy under the rim against Gatlinburg-Pittman. Reigning Champions Alcoa of course found terrific scoring from [player_tooltip player_id='1121414' first='Jahvin' last='Carter']. Brady Haun made four three-pointers through three quarters.

Owens scored the 53rd point for Alcoa before the third quarter ended. He was not an offensive threat though he was consistent rebounding and challenging shots. As a team Alcoa outrebounded GP 19-10. Owens helped establish that discrepancy, himself finishing with 8 rebounds.
