There are four north versus south battles in the second round of the LHSAA playoffs. When determining who will continue on to the quarterfinals, there is always one or two players who make a difference. In tonight's playoff games, there are those type players on each team. We will take a look at important players from some of the key matchups.

McKinley vs Captain Shreve

McKinley - [player_tooltip player_id='1347182' first='Jamond' last='Jacobs'] is going to have to give McKinley scoring from the wing. In this game, he might have a to be more of bruiser and get his scoring done in the paint. If he can get one of the key offensive players for the Gators in foul trouble, McKinley will have a really good shot at pulling off the win.

Captain Shreve - [player_tooltip player_id='1699870' first='E'Joshua' last='McDonald'] is one of the more underrated wings in Louisiana because he is a better football player. However, he can defend man-to-man baseline-to-baseline, and he has improved offensively. His ability to guard all guard/wing positions and be disruptive sets him apart from others. His play on the perimeter will be important for a Shreve victory.

Brother Martin vs Southwood

Brother Martin - If [player_tooltip player_id='2132627' first='Eli' last='Pichon'] can control the game scoring and passing, it could be a long night for the Cowboys. Pichon can break down guards one-on-one and can live in the paint if a defense lets him. His passing ability sets him apart. If he is able to get to the paint, he will have a field day.

Southwood - [player_tooltip player_id='1347444' first='Bryson' last='Williams'] must play his best point guard game on both ends of the floor. His quickness can be disruptive and his toughness will not allow him to give up on a play. If he is making outside shots, that will be a much needed bonus for a Cowboy team who struggles with perimeter shooting.

Episcopal vs Calvary Baptist

Episcopal - [player_tooltip player_id='1277353' first='TJ' last='Callahan'] is the best shooter that Epsicopal has. His ability to stretch the floor works well with the rest of his teammates who like to drive and kick. If he is making a ton of shots in this game, Calvary will have their work cut out for themselves.

Calvary Baptist - Ronald "Bubba" Strong will need to be just as consistent from behind the arc for the Cavs. He can hit four or five in a row and break open a game. Calvary will need his shooting to possibly break open a tight game.

Bossier and Opelousas is a return engagement from the second round last year. While guard play will determine how close this one is, the Bossier crowd will have something to say as well. It should be a good one with Bossier prevailing.
