The 6’2 playmaking guard brings a solid body, and good energy every time he steps on the court. His play has been consistent throughout the high school season. He’s a skilled guard with all the tools to effectively operate from both guard positions. He’s fast with the ball, quality handles, moves to score often on drives, mid-range jumpers, and 3ptrs. He defends hard.
Highlights
Virgil was his teams leading scorer as a Freshman. A thick body 2 guard that confidently looks for his shot when he has the ball in his hands. He has the handles to beat defenders off the dribble, using his solid body to handle contact and finish in traffic. He can drop a 3ptr off the dribble, spotting up along the perimeter, and coming down in transition. You can call a play for him, he wants the ball.
He doesn’t see a lot of action on one of NorCal’s top teams, we’ve seen enough of him in the spring and summer to put him at #3. A quality guard with a good skill set for the guard position. He has a good understanding of the game, he doesn’t try to over do it. He’s got good handles to get to his spots, or into the paint, he sees the whole court to deliver quality passes in transition, and around the perimeter. He can shoot the jump shot from mid-range, and has shown he can knock down open 3’s.
Highlights
He’s strong and athletic with plenty of hops to go up and out of his space to get rebounds on both ends of the court, he’ll get put back points with defenders hanging on him. He has good hands to receive on the cut, and power up off two feet to finish inside, and at the rim. He’s still polishing up his game, but works well from the high post, he can hit the paint jumper, use a dribble or two to attack from the baseline, his passing is good.
Highlights
He plays quality minutes, and brings energy into the game. He’s kind of pesky on the defensive side of the ball, good hands and feet activity, stabbing at the ball handlers not reaching. He’s fast getting up the court, with or without the ball, he’s fearless attacking rim from baseline, and other angles. He has good handles, and passing.
