2/3/24: Bryson played lead guard against great athletes from Huntington Prep (WV). Earlier in the year Bryson set the program record for made three-pointers. HHCA did not turn the ball over when Andrews played in the first quarter. Andrews sat in the second while Kevin De Kovachich played the point. They played together late in the second and the team looked really bad maintaining possessions. Not clear if one or both players were to blame, but ball-handling and valuing each possession falls upon the point guard spot. Andrews’ best take of the half was a running layup from 8′ against a lot of traffic. Andrews was knocked down and obviously fouled. The shot rimmed in and he missed the ensuing free throw long. Andrews found some success shooting during a comeback attempt. His fourth 3 of the game closed it to 61-56 with 2:21 left.

2/3/24: Vito is raw. The footwork is not great. His close-outs on defense vary between passable and terrible. Vito is a big trying to be a wing. He might get there, but there is a decided gap between potential and proof right now. Ok athlete. Good strength. If he elects to be a forward, then his lower body strength will help him rebound, as it did against Huntington Prep. Tried a Euro. Not great but developing. Outside shooting is a plus. His skills are startling for a 6-foot-10 player, but he is still developing as a wing player.
2/3/24: Hit both the open and challenged outside shot.
2/3/24: Defended ok. Very strong body. He was whistled for an offensive foul for chicken winging on a drop step. At the college level, the play was certainly a “play-on”. Whistled for over the back foul. Another absurd call. Mikic actually tipped a long miss up off of the glass on the play.
2/3/24: A blur with the basketball. Kamai has the highest upside of any guard on the team. He is still getting better at open-floor ball-handling. He is not a liability, but he can get a little high the the dribble when all of the pokers and whackers are poking and whacking. Right now Kamai is probably more shooting guard than point guard, but he is not bad as a primary ball-handler. Slashing is his most marketable skill. Strong legs. Gets to the danger areas even against good defenders. Explosive. Good free throw touch. He can be a Top 10 guy in the 2026 class. No doubt.
