Kaylen Chilton Kaylen Chilton 6’1″ | PG WT Woodson | 2027 State VA is having an outstanding Freshman season for Woodson. Kaylen is a great shooter and can do it in multiple ways. He can spot up and knock down shots and does well using screens to get his shot off. In an Overtime win over South County, Kaylen had 16 to lead Woodson in scoring—a big performance from a Freshman who has been playing some great ball as of late.
Potomac Falls is 23-0 this year, and one of my favorite things about this team is that they don’t have a guy who is the obvious star. They get contributions from a lot of really talented guys, one of them being Johnny Opiola. Johnny always gives you 100%, which is a huge factor on both ends. Pot Falls stifled Briar Woods’s offense, and Johnny was all over the court. He finished with 17 points in a 20-point Pot Falls win.
Darren Knicely
Darren Knicely
Darren Knicely is a physical and skilled big, and he dominated Chantilly in James Madison’s 9-point win. Knicely imposed his will all game and was unstoppable in the paint. Darren had 27 points and 11 rebounds in a dominant performance. Darren got to the line a lot, knocking down seven free throws, and his offense played a significant factor in Madison keeping Chantilly at bay. Knicley had 17 second-half points, and a lot of buckets took the steam out of some of Chantilly’s runs.
Brady Peterson

Riverside is a team that entered the District Tourney on fire, and they have gotten high-level play from many players. I mentioned Shane Crissman Shane Crissman 6’6″ | SG Miller School | 2025 State VA and Mason Ridgeway a few times over the last month, and they had impressive outings. Another player who played terrific against Stone Bridge was Brady Peterson. Brady always plays hard and competes on both ends of the floor. Brady is a good rebounder, and although the numbers don’t necessarily show out, he’s a solid shooter. Brady had 13 points and eight rebounds in Riverside’s win over Stone Bridge.
So far, the best performance of the week is Tavarres Riley Tavarres Riley 6’1″ | PG Freedom-Woodbridge | 2024 State VA ‘s game against Forest Park. Scoring 40 isn’t new to Tavarres, but this one stood out most, considering the circumstances. Tavarres knocked down 3 threes and was committed to getting to the line. Tavarres scored 43 of Freedom-Woodbridge’s 66 points to defeat an outstanding Forest Park team by 2.
