Indiana is full of great teams and talented players thus giving the fans incredible matchups every week. Join me, Kyler Staley, every Monday during the season as I preview the 3 Players, 3 Teams, and 3 Matchups to watch for that coming week. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
3 Players
Over at West Vigo is the high-scoring 6’4 shooting guard, Zeke Tanoos Zeke Tanoos 6’4″ | SG West Vigo | 2024 State IN . He has always been one of the best under-the-radar players in the in-state 2024 class and has had a big senior and has a strong case as the best player in the entire Vigo County. He creates his own shot and have proved to be a legit scorer in all areas of the the floor. He has a ton of athleticism and plays a very fast pace that is often times an advantage to him. Has offers from Manchester and Wabash as of this writing. You can watch him when West Vigo hosts Cloverdale (2/13) and North Central Farmersburg (2/15) this week.
Highlights
I think it is safe to say that Orr was one of the best impact transfer this season. Due to what he has brought this season, the Hamilton Southeastern Royals are 15-6 on the year and will be a tough out when it comes to Sectional 8 this season. The 6’3 long, athletic guard is very good at attacking the basket off of the dribble. He is aggressive offensively and has given the Royals a scoring punch in the backcourt. He is averaging 11.5 points and 2.4 assists per game this season. Watch Hamilton Southeastern when they host Brownsburg (2/16) this week.
Up in northern Indiana at Kankakee Valley is one of our top under-the-radar prospects in the in-state 2024 class, Cam Webster Cam Webster 6’3″ | SG Kankakee Valley | 2024 State IN . The 6’3 shooting guard is one of the more unselfish players I have seen out of this class but has the ability to score at a high volume with his proof of averaging 17.1 points per game this season thus far. The left-handed guard is a sneaky athletic player that never takes plays off and can finish around the rim and has continued to improve off of the dribble making him a more attractive prospect to area small college programs. He can knock down outside shot, as well. Watch Kankakee Valley and Webster this week when they host Hanover Central (2/16) and McCutcheon (2/17) this week.

3 Teams
Carmel (4A) – While they are not the Carmel that is usually viewed as a state contender every year, this year’s Greyhounds has become one that you do not want to face at the moment. While they are only 9-10 on the year, they have won 5 out of their last 6 game which includes wins over Ben Davis, Fishers, and Lawrence North. They have a solid 1-2 punch combo of junior guard Alex Couto Alex Couto 6'0" | PG Carmel | 2025 State IN and sophomore forward Evan Harrell Evan Harrell 6'8" | PF Carmel | 2026 State IN who combined average 19 ppg. If I am a Sectional 8 team, they are a squad I wouldn’t want to face. They have a tough week ahead as they travel to both Brebeuf Jesuit (2/13) and Warren Central (2/16).
Indianapolis Tech (4A) – The Indianapolis Tech Titans are a 4A team that I feel does not get as much love as they should. They are 13-7 on the year and are currently riding a 4-game winning streak. There are a lot of enjoyable, high-potential players on here and it starts with senior wing Jayden Ford Jayden Ford 6'6" | PF Arsenal Tech | 2024 State IN (8.7 ppg) and sophomore point guard Elexander Harris Elexander Harris 5'11" | PG Arsenal Tech | 2026 State IN (14.6). They are a team with a lot of athleticism and can really make teams feel uncomfortable due to their style of play. As they look to build momentum ahead of Sectional 10, they travel to Fort Wayne South (2/14) this week.
Evansville Bosse (3A) – The Bulldogs of Evansville Bosse are slowing becoming a team to watch for in Class 3A. They are only 11-9 on the year, but have won their last 8 of their last 10 games on the year. The main guy here is senior guard Taray Howell Taray Howell 5'8" | PG Evansville Bosse | 2024 State IN , who is one of the most electric players all across the state. A big standout for the Bulldogs is that they are undefeated against Sectional 32 opponents at 4-0. With Class 3A being wide-open this year, Bosse is a team to watch.
3 Matchups
Lawrence North (4A) at Fishers (4A) – Feb 13th, 7:30 pm
Biggest game in the state this week and that is a 100% fact. Two teams that you can almost expect to see in the Class 4A state championship and honestly, this could easily be a preview of that game. The matchups are extremely fun for this one and they all pretty much matchup with one another when it comes to the starting five. Very intrigued how the sophomore frontcourt duo of Lawrence North’s Kai McGrew Kai McGrew 6'8" Lawrence North | 2026 State IN and Brennan Miller Brennan Miller 6'7" | PF Lawrence North | 2026 State IN handle senior forward Keenan Garner Keenan Garner 6'6" | PF Fishers | 2024 State IN as well as the backcourt matchup of both teams. Expect just a really tight game throughout. I got Fishers in this one.
NorthWood (3A) at Fort Wayne Blackhawk (2A) – Feb 16th, 7:30 pm
This one is always one of the more fun matchups in the Northern Indiana area every season. The big matchup here is between junior standout bigs Kellen Pickett Kellen Pickett 6'9" | PF Blackhawk Christian | 2025 State #108 Nation IN (FWB) and Tyler Raasch Tyler Raasch 6'8" | C NorthWood | 2025 State IN (NW). Both teams also enter this game combined 27-13 on the year. This game will come down to the surrounding players around Pickett and Raasch, which I think Blackhawk has the advantage here. Give me the Braves in this one.
New Albany (4A) at Brownstown Central (2A) – Feb 17th, 7:30 pm
The Braves of Brownstown Central play their 5th team from the HHC this week in the from of the New Albany Bulldogs. As we all know, the Braves are one of the best teams in the state and have beaten teams at all levels all season long. If it was not for a certain phenom up in Kokomo, Brownstown guard and Purdue signee Jack Benter Jack Benter 6'4" | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #121 Nation IN would be a Mr. Basketball contender. New Albany has exceeded expectations a little this season and enter 14-5 on the season. With that said, Brownstown improves to 4-1 vs HHC this Saturday.
