Continue ReadingFollowing an uncharacteristic seven-point first half, the Trevecca Nazarene-signee got hot in the second half, scoring seven points in the third, eight points in the fourth and four in overtime to finish with 24 points and 7 rebounds. With his jump shot off, Jax wisely attacked the rim, scoring tough buckets in traffic. Abernathy excels at changing speeds and playing with balance through contact.
Dontae is so important to Christian Heritage. His versatility is key. Crowder guards multiple positions and can score inside and out. He netted a three before scoring on a pair of putbacks. Dontae is crafty, knowing the nuances of how to play in the paint. He nudges opponents in the back just enough to gain rebounding advantages and often times doesn’t draw a whistle. His away from the ball game is gritty. Crowder had 7 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in a 64-60 overtime loss to Darlington.
I really liked what I saw from Jack against Christian Heritage. The ball was moving in the Darlington offense, leading to dribble drive penetration and kick out threes. Bell sank a pair of threes and physically attacked the paint off the bounce, getting inside and using his pivot to find angles to score. Jack tallied 10 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
Will Land
Will Land
Will Land is a fan favorite. His energy is infectious and his hustle is inevitable. He does the little things well and packs a big punch in a small package. Land doesn’t force the issue on offense and never quits on plays. He had a great baseline drive, floating out of bounds passing with his left hand to hit a shooter in the corner for a three. Will Land gets it.
Joshua Priest
Joshua Priest
The Emmanuel baseball-signee has a strong build. Listed at 6-foot-2, he throws his weight around to grab rebounds. Josh stretches the floor with deep three-point range. Priest netted four threes en route to 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists in a 60-37 win over White County.
Caden Reed
Caden Reed
The wiry guard has length and height on the perimeter. Reed can be a Swiss Army Knife, a capable scorer that also rebounds and facilitates. Caden hit a pair of threes and scored at the rim finishing with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.
Braxton Anderson
Braxton Anderson
The football standout brings his quarterback playmaking to the hardwood. Braxton is a strong athlete. He’s good at pushing the pace and finding open shooters. He was able to get downhill with a floater and drain the pull-up three. Anderson tallied 7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. I like his upside as a high motor athlete with a knack for filling the stat sheet.
