The games weren’t overly competitive, but their were two highly ranked teams on the floor and several quality prospects worth talking about. Let’s dive in and take a look at the two quarterfinal contests from Wednesday night.
Delta 68 Daleville 47
Daleville fell behind in a hurry, but fought their way back into the game trailing by nine points at halftime and cutting it to as low as six during their strong run. However, there was too much size and talent on the Eagles side for the Broncos to pull the upset. Delta was ranked #3 in this week’s Prep Hoops Indiana Class 3A poll and eventually rolled to a 68-47 victory. Semifinal Preview
On Friday night it’ll be Delta (11-2) versus Wes-Del (3-7) followed by Yorktown (6-5) versus Wapahani (12-0). On paper, it looks like a collision course to Saturday’s championship game for Delta and Wapahani, but don’t sleep on Yorktown. Senior guard Kieran Tewari is averaging 14.6 points per game while Jacob Grim chips in 10.1 points and 4.0 assists per game. They’ve played an excellent schedule and recently rattled off five consecutive wins, including an impressive overtime victory over Anderson, before falling to Class 4A #3 Westfield. The Tigers lost by two points earlier this season at Delta. Wapahani, the defending Delaware County Tournament champions, won’t be able to sleepwalk their way back to the finals.
