With over 30 teams and hundreds of college coaches in attendance, the Hoop Hall Prep Showcase had tons of talent from all over the country and is always one of the top events in the country.
Here’s a look at part two of the standouts from the Virginia schools in attendance.
Jaden Johnson | 6’1” PG | Fork Union 2024
FUMA had a good weekend going 1-1 with a big Elite Prep League win over Perkiomen and a loss to Vermont Academy who is considered one of the top teams int he country, and Johnson continues to show he’s a point guard who can help you win games at any level. He played with great poise protecting the basketball and making things happen off the bounce, he made plays for others, stuffed the stat sheet and used his wiggle and craft to finish around the rim. He finished with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals against Vermont and 10 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in their win over Perkiomen.
David Burnette | 6’4” WG | Fork Union 2024
Burnette continues to be the glue guy for this upstart FUMA team, as he is one of their best two way players who provides length, athleticism and skill on both ends of the floor. He can knock down shots from deep and in the midrange, he can get out in transition where he can play above the rim and he uses his length to challenge shots and can guard the other team’s best scorer. He finished with 15 points and 3 rebounds in their win over Perkiomen.
Michael Wilson | 6’6” WF | Fork Union 2024
Wilson is starting to step it up and turn into their swiss-army knife, as he plays all over the floor for them and finds ways to produce across the board against high level competition. At 6’6” he has good size and athleticism to play and guard multiple positions, he can bang in the post and finish in traffic, he’s a good rebounder and he can knock it down from deep as well. He finished with 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting and 4 rebounds in their win over Perkiomen and 15 points and 4 rebounds against Vermont Academy.
Cermelo Myles | 6’4” WG | Fork Union 2024
Myles is starting to come into his own as FUMA’s go-to guy off the bench, and he provided great energy for them in their two games showing his ability to score it and use his athleticism to make plays on both ends. He’s a long and springy wing who can sky for rebounds and get to the rim, he can rise up over defenders and knock down shots in the midrange and he plays with a great motor and is willing to do all the dirty work to help his team. He finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds in their loss to Vermont Academy and 6 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in their win over Perkiomen.
Desean Goode | 6’8”PF | Fork Union 2024
Goode was limited due to an ankle injury he suffered before the event, and while he wasn’t his usual self he did a great job playing through the paint and providing the size and toughness they needed. He showed his versatility and mismatch ability at the 5 spot playing inside-out, he ran the floor hard and finished around the rim and he got to the line often. He finished with 7 points and 2 steals on 3-for-3 shooting in limited time in their win over Perkiomen and 7 points and 5 rebounds in their loss to Perkiomen.
