The Eagles (14-6) worked through a slow start at home, then found a swift, poised answer in the final minutes as visiting White Castle mounted a high-energy, hot-shooting rally.
Alex Goza received a pass on the baseline, head-faked and made an open basket to reclaim the lead. Porter Brumfield snatched a steal at the other end, and Konner Broussard drained a corner 3-pointer to help punctuate the 47-43 victory.
“We’ve been in that situation before,” senior forward Jack Herrington said. “We’ve had a couple grinder games this year we’ve had to grind out to the end, so we’ve had a little bit of experience in that. I don’t think it should’ve been like that. We didn’t really have our best game.
“But, yeah, we’ve been in some grinder games all year, so I think just the experience. We’ve got a group of seniors that want to win, and I think we just did a great job with that.”
The Eagles have now won nine straight, including three of the past five coming by seven points or fewer
Shadrack Allen — 5-9 G — White Castle (2025)
The Bulldogs’ multisport standout scored six points — tied for fourth-most on his team — but had his fingerprints all over the game, including this late 16-2 run to regain a lead in the final minutes, with his defense and hustle. The quick and active-handed Allen snatched a game-high five steals, including two in the fourth quarter, as well as five rebounds and a pair of assists.

Broussard’s 3-pointer to help close out the victory was the last of a handful of timely, critical plays by the Eagles’ multisport athlete who finished with five points, two rebounds, two steals, two assists and a blocked shot. His first basket came on a steal and layup in the final seconds of the first half to help stretch the lead and mount momentum heading into the break.

The junior combo guard overcame his own slow start offensively to hit his final two 3-pointers to fuel a quick, but important run late in the third and early in the fourth. He finished with 12 points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Porter Brumfield — 6-3 G — Parkview Baptist (2024)
The senior finally helped the Eagles find some success from the perimeter when he connected late in the first quarter and then added a pair in the second en route to his 11 points. The older Brumfield’s versatility and willingness to battle bigger opponents also loomed large with his 11 rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot providing some critical help against a tough, physical White Castle duo inside.
Damorion Burks — 6-5 C — White Castle (2025)
