Blake Bartney Blake Bartney 6'2" | CG Millbrook | 2024 State NC would knock down another layup to make it 8-0 before Wakefield would respond and get their first points on the board. With just 4:20 left in the first quarter, the Wildcats led 11-2. Wakefield would make it 13-7 before Millbrook would go another run to end the quarter. The Wildcats were sharing the ball, swarming on defense and firing on all cylinders and after 1 quarter, they led 24-9.
Wakefield would chip away at the lead in the second quarter in the early going, but Millbrook would keep pace and continue to keep their distance on the scoreboard. Jacob Lawton Jacob Lawton 5'8" | PG Millbrook | 2024 State NC would knock down two 3-pointers to pace the offense for Millbrook while the Wolverines offense struggled to find an answer. As things slowed down, Millbrook would put up nine points in the second quarter while Wakefield put up 11 points. At the half, Millbrook led 33-20.
In the second quarter, Wakefield came out with a different energy but missing some easy bunnies around the rim to start the third quarter would take the wind out of their sails. For Millbrook, on the other hand, Colt Langdon Colt Langdon 6'7" | SG Millbrook | 2025 State #114 Nation NC would have another big scoring quarter as he put up eight points in the third while they held Wakefield to just nine points as a team. After three quarters, Millbrook held a 48-29 lead and took the home crowd out of the game in the process.
In the fourth quarter, it was all Millbrook as Alex Olander Alex Olander 6'4" | SF Millbrook | 2024 State NC scored 10 of his 14 points and Alonzo Hester Jr Alonzo Hester Jr 5'9" | PG Millbrook | 2025 State NC . went on a personal scoring run of his own as the Wildcats produced 27 points as a team. Wakefield could only hold on as their offense stalled and they didn’t look like their usual selves. In the end, Millbrook would take home the victory, 75-46. It was an all-around team effort for them as all five teams finished scoring in double-figures. Olander, Langdon and Lawton knocked down a combined seven 3-pointers. It was a marquee victory for Millbrook as they look to prove once again they’re the top dog in the NAC6.
Langdon led all scorers in the game with 18 points, showing off his ability to operate inside and out with his length. Wakefield didn’t have much of an answer for him as he knocked three 3-pointers and held things down in the painted area and it showed in the result. He continues to show off his development and conditioning as he played the entire game.
Highlights
Lawton was a spark offensively, especially as the game went on, at the point guard spot. He knocked down 3’s, showed off his midrange game and got his shooters touches when needed. He’s an underrated floor general in the 919 area for DIII/JUCO programs to continue to track.
Olander was another impressive performer for the Wildcats as he finished with 14 points, a slew of rebounds and some emphatic blocks at the rim. He’s a bit undersized at the forward spot but his IQ and decision-making make up for it. He’s an unsigned senior for DII and DIII programs in the region to keep a look out for.
Bartney stepped up in a big way for the Wildcats backcourt, making plays and dropping dimes whenever it was needed to get the team’s energy/momentum up. He finished with 12 points, a good number of assists and two steals when the dust finally settled in. He’s gotten back to his old self since returning from injury and looking like a prospect for DIII and JUCO programs to go after.
Hester continues to put himself on the PH radar with his stellar play. He’s an electric guard who showed he could bring the energy off the bench as he did for the Wildcats and even went on a personal scoring run of seven points to close things out in the fourth quarter. He’s a junior name to keep an eye on in the region.
