Milan's Bulldogs (6-6) lived up to their name, bulldogging the visiting Hornets of South Gibson (8-7), December 29th. Milan won 44-40 in a low-scoring war.

Down 11-8, South Gibson High Head Coach Keith Runyon swapped his entire five. He struggled to find scoring.

Blame the stifling, stout Milan veterans.

[player_tooltip player_id='1401489' first='Carson' last='Pruitt'] (Milan) is built like he just returned from his American Gladiator's audition. The football player played solid against the 3A South Gibson Hornets. Few, if any 2A teams feature a stronger forward.

Adrian Spain (Milan) shifted his feet rather well guarding the ball.

Jvione Johnson (Milan) played physical without fouling. He even drew a foul as a screener on the offensive end. The left-handed Johnson talked and pointed on defense. His court awareness was exceptional. Johnson drew a foul or two in the second quarter, making them count.

For the most part [player_tooltip player_id='1401481' first='Gabe' last='Scott'] (Milan) was sure-handed and steady, but he made one woefully misguided pass. The senior jumped in the air from the near wing and tried a two-handed overhead post feed that was deflected. Scott's deep three-pointer vaulted Milan into double figures for the first time and his second three-pointer raised the crowd up.

Sam Tritt (South Gibson) was pesky and mobile, constantly dashing around the floor. Tritt defended feverishly and drew a foul while shooting a wing three-pointer in the second quarter. Tritt was a constant pest.

Milan exacted revenge for the last matchup, December 7th, when the visiting Hornets won 77-56. The Bulldog defense was markedly better Friday.

South Gibson senior dual-sport star [player_tooltip player_id='1377905' first='Cameron' last='Clark'] is not playing basketball this year. Signed to star for Ole Miss football, Clark's absence is glaring. Insanely strong, powerful, tenacious. The team misses him in the rebound wars.
