A nice little twist on this particular showcase— all eight head coaches of the participating teams. Played for Coach Turner at Albion. Speaking to the tradition and legacy of the Briton’s program.
Following are five prospects who turned in outstanding performances in action this Saturday.
Elijah Williams Elijah Williams 6'5" | SF Brother Rice | 2026 State MI 6-6 2026 Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice (pictured) The high profile transfer from the Phoenix area appears to still be adjusting to new surroundings. However he provided glimpses of the skill set that makes him a top five recruit nationally in the 2026 class. I would not call him passive. But he did show maturity and patience waiting for plays to develop. Showed a few “beyond his years” pocket passes. Especially one from the corner to a cutter that showed excellent court vision. Is extremely smooth on the perimeter and has an easy release from beyond the arc. Attacked the basket when he needed to late. Showed toughness by playing through a lip that was bleeding profusely. He will have better games in his career. However he showed a lot to get excited about in the next two and a half years.
Christian Humphrey-Rembert Christian Humphrey-Rembert 6'9" | SF East Kentwood | 2024 State MI 6-9 2024 East Kentwood A big factor in Williams’ smaller output than normal was the play of this versatile defender. That’s right, at 6-9 Humphrey-Rembert guarded Williams most of the night. Doing it very effectively. Did it with his mixture of extreme length and excellent lateral quickness. Took him a while to get going offensively. Floating a little bit out on the perimeter. However started getting more assertive on the block in the second half. Is able to contort his body into unique finishing positions. Caught a lob and finished with big dunk that changed the momentum in the game. Briefly committed to Howard. He might have opened a few more Division I eyes with his performance Saturday night. Stuffed the stat sheet to the tune 11 points, nine rebounds, and five blocks.
Jah Hatchett Jah Hatchett 5'9" | PG East Kentwood | 2025 State MI 5-11 2025 East Kentwood Humphrey-Rembert isn’t the only Falcon whose recruiting status could be rising. Hatchett is off to a blistering start in his junior campaign. I last saw him completely take over a game at the Motor City Roundball Classic. Is a next level distributor. However, really had the scoring touch working Saturday. Especially early in the contest. In a sub 6 foot package is a true three level scorer. Drives to the basket with power and purpose. Has the athleticism to finish above the rim. Operates well in the forgotten area known as the mid range and is confident from beyond the arc. A compete performance against a good Brother Rice backcourt.
Geon Hutchins Geon Hutchins 6'4" | SG Oak Park | 2025 State MI 6-4 202 Oak Park Hutchins got off to a slow start against an aggressive Jackson defense. Facing a big halftime deficit as a result. However responded with a huge second half. Almost bringing Oak Park all the way back. Hutchins has a slender build. That being said, plays taller than his listed height due to his long arms. Accordingly is able to easily rise over most defenders in the mid range. Has a clever array of euro steps and jump stops that he uses effectively to create space and get his shot off. Despite his frame, showed the strength it finish through contact repeatedly. Even had a chance for a four point play he did not convert. Was at the line much of the night. Has a quick second jump and had a big block defensively late. Finished with 25 points in the close loss.
Alex Jamison Alex Jamison 6'1" | SG Port Huron Northern | 2026 State MI 6-2 2026 Port Huron Northern This young versatile guard is off to a quick start this season. If you’ve seen a Jamison from Port Huron play over the years. You know what you are getting here. Fundamentally sound players with a nose for the basket. Cleverly exploited a size advantage against a smaller Kalamazoo Loy Norrix squad. Moves well off the ball and finds seams in defenses. Finished with 23 points and played well off of fellow 2026 point guard Amir Morelan Amir Morelan 6'0" | SG Port Huron Northern | 2026 State MI . Morelan finished with 17 points and 8 assists. Something special could be brewing by the Blue Water Bridge.
