Continue ReadingHinton immediately passes the eye test. He’s big, strong and athletic. Matt jumps very well, able to wipe away shots at their highest point. He does the dirty work inside as a rebounder and second chance finisher. Against Wilson Academy, Hinton supplied 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 blocks while shooting 4-5 from the foul line.
Tamiel is a mountain of a man. He’s an imposing big body that eats up space. Green converts on dump offs and putbacks but also has touch from 15-feet, netting a jumper on Saturday. Tamiel totaled 4 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block.
The second half belonged to Thompson as he scored all his points over the final 16 minutes. He cranked up his activity in the paint, scoring on a pair of putbacks and with a nice spin out of the post. Thompson has a good frame, long and athletic with room to add muscle. He put up 10 points, 6 rebounds and 1 block vs. Walnut Grove.
Caleb was a beast against the smaller Mountain View Bears. When a shot went up, Kawela made a bee-line to the basket to grab rebounds. Caleb carves out space with his physicality. He has some finesse when needed as well though, capable of hitting the outside jumper. On Saturday, Caleb netted a turnaround jumper on his way to finishing with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
Amir Daniels
Amir Daniels
I liked the energy Amir Daniels brought on Saturday. He’s a good leaper that blocks shots and rebounds in traffic. He finished around the rim on a pair of putbacks and a dunk. Amir had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals in a double overtime loss to North Gwinnett.
After a two-point first half, Miles Clanton Miles Clanton 6’5″ | SF North Gwinnett | 2025 State GA broke loose finishing with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks. He’s a tweener, a combo-forward that plays inside but also can be a power wing that looks to get downhill and bully his way to buckets. Clanton is a threat with his three-point shot, nailing one during his 12-point fourth quarter. Miles is explosive vertically and is an exceptional finisher when powering through contact as he scored three And-1s.
