Here is a look at the top underclassmen that caught our eye at California.
Grady Payton Grady Payton 6'7" | SF Jefferson City | 2026 State MO (Capital City): The 6’7 2026 forward showed out in the championship game as he displayed his length and shooting ability. He scored 18 points, which included multiple 3-pointers. He also had a nice touch from 10 to 15 feet. He was also solid on the defensive end with a number of blocked shots.
Isaac Busch Isaac Busch 6'4" | SF Eugene | 2025 State MO (Eugene): The 6’4 2025 forward was one of the stars of the tournament as he led the Eagles to the championship. His short jumper at the buzzer gave Eugene the win over Capital City in the championship game. He is a strong offensive threat from anywhere on the floor. He scored in the post and knocked down 3-pointers. He is also a good passer. He averaged 24 points in the final two games.
Ethan Wunderlich Ethan Wunderlich 6'0" | PG Eugene | 2026 State MO (Eugene): The 6’1 2026 guard helped led the Eagles to the championship. He was on fire from 3-point range in the semifinals and championship game, including a last-second trey that sent the championship game into overtime. He also passes ghe ball well and he can wheel and deal in the lane for buckets inside.
BJ Godreau (Moberly): A 2025 guard who provided instant offense off the bench in both games I watched him. He’s quick and he can create his own shot off the dribble. He has a nice pull up jumper from the elbow and a good runner when he enters the lane.
Justice Allen (Eugene): A 5’10 2025 guard who plays with tremendous energy at both ends of the court. He attacks the basket and loves to go end to end in the transition game. He is also an aggressive defender with active hands. If a ball handler is loose with the ball, he will definitely pick their pocket and go the other way.
Cameron Doubrava Cameron Doubrava 6'1" | SG Moberly | 2026 State MO (Moberly): A 6’2 2026 guard who can dial it up from long distance if he gets a look. He’s a solid offensive player, but I was impressed with his playmaking skills and court vision. He delivered a couple of nice skip passes.
