The sophomore was up against another elite talent in Andress guard Cam Gulley and in just three quarters he managed to outscore him. Burges played from behind to start the game as Rubio was benched in the first quarter; however, he finished with a game high 19-points as he took over for large stretches of the third quarter to get the Mustangs back in the game. Over the last couple of months, coaches and trainers alike ranted and raved about Gulley to me and he did not disappoint. I saw him play against a young Burges squad and he scored the most effortless 15-points I have seen in a long time. I never saw him force up a bad shot as he played within the flow of his team's offense. The junior wing scored 14-points and hit from every level. More importantly, he was reliable from the charity stripe, hitting all five attempts including a trio after a shooting foul on a 3-point attempt. El Paso High's [player_tooltip player_id='2426051' first='Owen' last='Bustillos'] was the pleasant surprise of this past week for me. The senior scored a game high 16-points against Canutillo, scoring from range and at the rim. Bustillos has one of the best-looking jumpers in the Borderland and a quick release to go with it. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2551717' first='Savion' last='Jordan'] led the way with 12-points as the Huskies put together one of their most impressive defensive efforts of the season against an Andress squad that is not lacking in scoring talent.
