This includes distributing the basketball, controlling the flow of the game and making tough defensive plays on the perimeter. Here’s 5 recent standouts that really caught my eye with play outside of just scoring the ball.
6’2 2026 James Sanderson James Sanderson 6’2″ | PG Emerson | 2026 State TX has been smooth all year for 5a Frisco Emerson. If your looking for a guard who only scores your in the wrong place. James carries a impact on his team that is much more then putting points on the board. Facilitator, even against the most elite competition his feel for the game and elite IQ is there. He see’s most plays happen before they happen and hit everyone with the ball in the perfect spot. He’s also aggressive on defense and averages a couple steals a game. With that being said, last time I caught him he was also able to light up the score board from about everywhere on the floor going for 20+. James is a dual citizen and will be heading to the Philippines soon after an invite to tryout for their 17u fiba team.
Highlights
2025 Dailon Minor Dailon Minor 5’11” | PG BigTyme Sports Preparatory Academy | 2025 State #397 Nation TX was on a tear all Winter Break in the Swaic, which is the top prep school league in Texas and loaded with talented guards. He’s been the backbone for a talented Big Tyme Prep squad that briefly lost one of their top contributors to injury. His feel for the game is to smooth and that’s no surprise with his family history in basketball, son of Demarcus Minor former Baylor Bear point guard. He controls the pace of the game and was able to settle the team down or speed them up depending on the situation. In addition he’s currently top 5 in scoring in the Swaic with almost 20 points per game. He even recorded nearly 30 against Taca Storm who has one of the states best guards. Defensively a dog, will pick your pockets for easy transition baskets. Dailon is ELITE and should be on your radar moving into summer and a predicted huge senior campaign at Big Tyme.
2025 PG Mason White Mason White 6’2″ | SG Denton Guyer | 2025 TX has been a key piece for Denton Guyer all year. His production may vary based on how hot or cold his teammates are and being able to turn on the switch like that gives me a Chris Paul type of vibe. Physical guard with a high IG and excellence vision and awareness of his teammates. He just makes everyone better on the floor but can score at will when needed. He shoots a good percentage from deep but is more impressive finishing through contact at the rim. Mason is also a lockdown defender, he just forces you to work all game which eventually wears out most of his opponents by half time. Look for Mason to have a big summer moving into senior year at Guyer.
Theo Brannan
Theo Brannan
2026 Theo Brannan has been the true definition of a point guard for state ranked Mansfield Summit. He operates Summit team that you wouldn’t think to much of on paper but these guys can flat out ball with the best of them. Theo is a passer first, scorer 2nd but finishes so many crazy layup’s using nifty footwork that defense is often confused on weather to step up and help or stay put. Doesn’t take a crazy amount of shots per game but when he put them up he’s a high percentage shooter. Works well with bigs, his vision incredible he averages over 6 assist a game and every time I see them I want to get up and clap. Still young, he’ll be around a while for you to check out but I recommend sooner then later for sure.

Damyuis Williams Damyuis Williams PG West Mesquite | 2025 TX
2025 Damyuis Williams Damyuis Williams PG West Mesquite | 2025 TX is hands down my top graded passer in the North Texas area. He possesses a dime package that training just can’t teach. I’ll include his video below. Smooth handle, never gets raddled under pressure and he sees alot of it every game. Like some of the other true point guards mentioned he’s able to control the pace of the game for his team and gifts them with several layups a game from his passing ability. Not only does he make the pass, he set’s up the whole situation before hand almost like he was watching tape instead of the player. In addition to his passing he’s also a crafty scorer at the rim using his quick first step to blow by defenders and finish through contact. Damyuis is in for big summer and senior year at West Mesquite leading them to some big wins this year most notable Desoto and should be on your radar now.rn
