One of the tough parts of previewing the season is knowing who will be where. There is always some movement during the offseason. Add to that players who decide not to play due to early graduation (mostly football commits) and you have a lot of unanswered questions.

We're starting to get some answers about who is playing where. Here are a few updates that we know of (in alphabetical order):

[player_tooltip player_id='1953932' first='Michael' last='Boganowski'], 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, Junction City:

This came as a surprise. We weren't sure the Oklahoma football commit would be seen on the hardcourt again. The return of the powerful senior to the team catapults Junction City in the 6A picture. They went to state last year with a lot of junior leadership. The returning crew plus Boganowski – the team's leading scorer last season – is off to a hot start.

[player_tooltip player_id='2147831' first='Taylor' last='Campbell'], 6-foot-4 forward, 2024, Smoky Valley:

This move flew under the radar. Campbell impressed as a pure scorer for Lyons last year. It's unfortunate for the Lions to lose their best player. The addition of Campbell gives the Vikings a dynamic one-two punch with [player_tooltip player_id='2147835' first='Kian' last='Blanchat']. Campbell is a long, lanky wing who can shoot it from anywhere and glides to shot attempts in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='1270302' first='BJ' last='Canady'], 6-foot-5 center, 2024, Topeka High:

Canady's absence from the Topeka High lineup won't be felt by the Trojans. Injuries have prevented the big man from being on the court for a couple of years now. He played just enough football over the past three seasons to attract the attention of D1 programs. He committed to University of California and opted out of his senior basketball season. It's too bad the Trojans haven't been able to enjoy much of Canady's talents on the court. When he played, he was a big, powerful interior player with good coordination – impressive enough to merit a high ranking from Prep Hoops back when he was a sophomore.

[player_tooltip player_id='1270271' first='Tanner' last='Heckel'], 6-foot guard, 2024, Lyndon:

Boy, did it impact the small school scene when Heckel transferred from Inman. He was the best player on a really good 2A team for the past few seasons. As one of the best football players in the state, he was a dominant force for the Tigers on the gridiron, leading them to an 8-Man D1 title. He's a game changer on the court too, making an already talented Lyndon team a favorite in the 2A class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1953952' first='Kreighton' last='Kanitz'], 6-foot-2 guard, 2024, Moundridge (pictured):

A part of really good McPherson teams the past couple of years, Kanitz has shifted to Moundridge for his season year. He had an impactful football campaign. Now he joins the defending state champs on the court. Moundridge returned a couple of great players from that team, so the addition of a veteran of the 4A state tournament makes the Wildcats a team to beat in 2A.

Kaedin Massey, 6-foot-8 center, 2024, Lyndon:

Like Boganowski, we weren't sure we would see Massey on the court this winter. The K-State football commit has decided to run it back with the Tigers. His presence makes Lyndon a unique team in 2A. They have some guys who can defend, attack and run defenders ragged. The addition of Massey gives them a post presence and rim protector. He won't be the focal point of their offense, but he is an option and an intimidating presence.

[player_tooltip player_id='1372285' first='Aven' last='Mboule'], 5-foot-11 guard, 2025, Wichita Heights:

The rich get richer. Mboule is now running with some of the best big athletes in the state. A standout at Wichita South the past couple of years, this slick ball handler could create his own shot and run the point at a high level. Now he's making the offense of the ultra-talented Falcons a little more diverse and dangerous. The addition appears to be working out so far. The Falcons are steamrolling every opponent.
