We had a good amount of action across the state this week. See below for the latest movement in the PHD Power Rankings. This upcoming week is the last chance to watch live action before the brief holiday break. It will be interesting to see who can remain undefeated heading into Christmas. #1 Bowman County (3-0)
Recent Games: W 63-54 Dickinson Trinity, W 78-35 New England, W 80-39 Richardton-Taylor
The Bulldogs proved how good they are with a nice win over the Titans from Dickinson Trinity (Class A team). Trinity is no slouch either, they have talent, and they came into this game at 3-0. As we have said many times, Bohden Duffield Bohden Duffield 6'1" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND and Bishop Duffield Bishop Duffield 6'2" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND are the two big names for the Bulldogs.
#2 North Star (3-0)
Recent Games: W 49-43 New Rockford-Sheyenne, W 89-50 Warwick
The Bearcats put up some impressive numbers in the Warwick game. They not only got the win and some nice stats, North Star got some revenge from the end of last season. Stats: Dane Hagler Dane Hagler 6'4" | SG North Star | 2024 ND 26 points, 11 rebounds, 9 steals, 9 assists, Parker Simon Parker Simon 6'4" | SF North Star | 2024 State ND 26 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists, Karsen Simon Karsen Simon 6'5" | SF North Star | 2024 State ND 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals.
#3 Sargent County (2-0)
Recent Games: W 45-34 LaMoure-Litchville-Marion, W 69-51 Napoleon-G-S
The Bulldogs are perfect so far this season. They had a low-scoring battle early in the week against LLM and they took care of business on Friday at Napoleon. Stat leaders from Friday: Josh Wittich Josh Wittich 6'5" | PF Sargent County | 2024 State ND 15 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, Luke Martinson Luke Martinson 6'4" | PF Sargent County | 2024 State ND 24 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, Grady Wehlander Grady Wehlander 6'0" | SF Sargent County | 2024 State ND 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, Nick Hansen Nick Hansen 5'11" | CG Sargent County | 2024 ND 9 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists.
#4 Westhope-Newburg (3-0)
Recent Games: W 85-57 Kenmare-Bowbells, W 83-48 Nedrose
The Sioux are averaging 82.3 points per game and they are led by All-State talent Walker Braaten Walker Braaten 6'4" | CG Westhope/Newburg | 2025 State #278 Nation ND . The Texas Ranger could easily be the top point scorer in all of ND this year. In the game against Nedrose, Braaten went for 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. Hunter Tolstad Hunter Tolstad 6'2" | PF Westhope-Newburg | 2026 State ND also had a great game with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
#5 Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier (3-0)
Recent Games: W 72-64 Barnes County North, W 59-37 Kidder County, W 80-72 Midway-Minto
The Rebels are rolling to start the season! They have all the pieces to be elite. Athletes, young talent, height, and depth. In the game against Kidder County, EKM was led by Zeke Barnick Zeke Barnick 6'5" | PF EKM | 2024 State ND with 27 points, he has also had impressive DUNKs on the young season. In the matchup with Midway-Minot, EKM was led by Jacob Nitschke Jacob Nitschke 6'5" | PF Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier | 2024 State ND with 24 points. Brogan Young Brogan Young 6'1" | SG Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier | 2027 State ND is a young player to keep tabs on, he has been getting legit burn early in the season for only being a frosh.
#6 Langdon Area- Edmore-Munich (2-0)
Recent Games: W 61-60 Warwick, W 59-40 Hatton-Northwood
Rayce Worley Rayce Worley 6'4" | SF Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich | 2024 State ND is the man for the Cardinals and he will see a ton of attention all season long. PHD predicts that Worley will be an All-State Player this season. Rayce went for 20 points on Friday against Hatton-Northwood. The Cardinals have some nice complementary players who will catch your eye. Cody Amble Cody Amble 6'3" | SG Langdon Area | 2025 State ND , Jayden Lee Jayden Lee 6'0" | CG Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich | 2025 State ND , and Levi Swanson Levi Swanson 6'0" | CG Langdon | 2026 State ND are guys that I will be keeping an eye on when I am up in Hunter. PHD plans on watching the Cardinals play Monday night at Northern Cass, it should be a fun one!
#7 Bishop Ryan (4-0)
Recent Games: W 80-30 South Prairie-Max JV, 76-27 Tioga, 61-44 South Prairie-Max
The Lions are talented that is for sure and they have yet to be tested as all the games have been large-margin victories. Ramsey Walz Ramsey Walz 6'7" | PF Bishop Ryan | 2025 State #313 Nation ND is the BIG name for Ryan, Jett Lundeen Jett Lundeen 6'2" | SG Bishop Ryan | 2025 State ND is another high-quality player for the Lions. He was named Tournament MVP on Saturday at the ORCS Tourney.
#8 Washburn (2-0)
Recent Games: W 90-36 Strasburg-Zeeland
The Cardinals do not have a ton of size but they are loaded with skilled and talented guards. They are a hard-working group with experienced players who know how the put the ball in the hole. Alex Retterath Alex Retterath 6'1" | SG Washburn | 2024 State ND is one of the better all-around guards in Class B and he stuffs the stat sheet. Against Strasburg, the SNIPER Parker Jacobson Parker Jacobson 6'2" | CG Washburn | 2026 State ND went off for 33 points and 9 triples.
#9 Linton-HMB (2-0)
Recent Games: W 72-44 Garrison
I watched some of the Garrison game and Linton looked sharp at times and they shot very well as a team. The Lions are longer than I thought, have some nice backcourt players, and Jace Jochim Jace Jochim 6'2" | SG Linton/HMB | 2024 State ND is a stud. Jochim was the best player on the court against Garrison and he went for 32 points and 13 rebounds.
#10 Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood (2-0)
Recent Games: W 61-59 Kenmare-Bowbells, W 46-43 Powers Lake-Burke Central
The Mavericks have won two close games and they are an intriguing squad! PHD believes that MLS entered the season underrated and overlooked a bit. Expect this team to be impressive offensively as the season moves on and they figure a few things out. The Mavericks have some talented players that I am excited to see play this season.
