Philip 61 Bennett County 34
I was very impressed by Philip and their prospects. They have a Seniors that are definitely deserving of a mention.
Lane Kuchenbecker
Lane Kuchenbecker
Lane started the game out by popping a deep three to get things rolling. He possesses good length and an athletic build at 6’2”. Handled the point and was composed but also could set a good pace. A good leaper and used it to rebound and finish highly at the hoop. A willing passer and looked to setup his teammates for buckets. I’m unsure of his after high school plans, but I believe he could play at the next level in some capacity.
Layton made Philip go with effort, energy, and a bunch of playmaking. He was consistently cutting to the hoop and his teammates found him in stride to finish at the hoop off the glass. He brought a ton of defensive pressure and played tight defense on the ball-handler. Made a bunch of steals and turned it into transition action. He played fast all around with and without the ball. Got loose in fast-break situations quite often. The definition of a winning player.
Tyan Schofield
Tyan Schofield
Tyan was the tallest and longest prospect from both teams, standing at 6’5. Has an athletic and long/lanky build. He was effective near the hoop and that’s where he got most of his points. Had some offensive boards and was steady and tough to handle with his length.
Mount Vernon/Plankinton 56 Kimball/White Lake 53
Blake easily stands-out physically, especially up against a smaller MVP team. At 6’6, he’s got a strong and physical/muscular build. He’s taking his physicality to the South Dakota State football team. He moves well up and down the court. He was receiving a ton of defensive attention in the paint, often getting double-teamed and when he got the ball another defensive body was brought. Had no trouble rebounding the ball on both ends with his size advantage.
