We absolutely love getting to bring you the best content possible for this basketball-crazy state and it is your support that allows us to continue to cover every corner of Indiana the way that we do. While you celebrate the calendar turning to 2024 we will wanted to get out our Week 7 Prep Hoops Indiana Class-by-Class Poll. Here are the Top 10 teams in each class as we enter the new year.
Class 1A
Team | Record | Previous Ranking |
1. Evansville Christian | 9-1 | #1 |
2. Greenwood Christian | 6-3 | #2 |
3. Christian Academy | 9-1 | #4 |
4. Morgan Township | 8-3 | #3 |
5. Indianapolis Lutheran | 5-2 | #6 |
6. Tindley | 8-3 | #5 |
7. Orleans | 6-2 | #7 |
8. Loogootee | 8-4 | #9 |
9. Barr-Reeve | 8-1 | #10 |
10. Clay City | 7-3 | NR |
Evansville Christian and Greenwood Christian remain in the top two spots as neither played this past week. Morgan Township made it to the final of the Highland Tournament losing to Lafayette Jefferson by just five points so they don’t get punished much at all for that. Similarly, Tindley went 2-2 at the Bob Wettig Memorial Tournament all against Class 3A programs. They lost to Heritage Christian and Greensburg by a combined seven points while also defeating Centerville and defending state champion NorthWood.
Class 2A
Team | Record | Previous Ranking |
1. Brownstown Central | 9-3 | #1 |
2. Tipton | 10-0 | #2 |
3. Providence | 8-1 | #3 |
4. Wapahani | 10-0 | #4 |
5. Bishop Luers | 8-1 | #5 |
6. Park Tudor | 6-2 | #6 |
7. Southwestern (Hanover) | 10-1 | #7 |
8. Blackhawk Christian | 8-3 | #8 |
9. Parke Heritage | 9-3 | #9 |
10. Paoli | 6-1 | #10 |
Nothing changed here in Class 2A. Again, if you are dropping Brownstown Central due to losses to some of the best teams in the state when their Purdue signee doesn’t play then you need to publicly explain yourself. If anything, their win over Brownsburg without Benter solidified just how good this team is. Teams ranked #5 through #9 all lost, but they lost close games to good 3A and 4A schools while also picking up good wins so they all pretty much get a do-over next week.
Class 3A
Team | Record | Previous Ranking |
1. Delta | 10-1 | #2 |
2. Brebeuf Jesuit | 7-2 | #1 |
3. Danville | 9-0 | #4 |
4. Heritage Hills | 10-1 | #5 |
5. Scottsburg | 8-3 | #6 |
6. Guerin Catholic | 9-4 | #3 |
7. Indian Creek | 10-1 | #8 |
8. Tri-West | 9-1 | NR |
9. Bishop Noll | 7-4 | #7 |
10. Evansville Memorial | 4-4 | #10 |
To be honest, it would make more sense to only rank about six or seven teams in Class 3A right now. The top is pretty darn good but then it opens up in a hurry. Moving Brebeuf Jesuit off of the top spot because of a two point loss to Warren Central felt unfair, but Delta is rolling right now having just won their own tournament. Apologies to undefeated Danville, Brebeuf just couldn’t be punished more than one spot for that loss. Teams ranked #7 through #10 admittedly are just the best resumes and/or most talented teams on paper from a group of about 8-12 clubs that could be there.
Class 4A
Team | Record | Previous Ranking |
1. Lawrence North | 9-0 | #1 |
2. Fishers | 11-0 | #3 |
3. Westfield | 6-0 | #2 |
4. Cathedral | 8-0 | #4 |
5. Noblesville | 8-1 | #5 |
6. Crispus Attucks | 9-3 | #7 |
7. Kokomo | 10-3 | #6 |
8. Ben Davis | 6-2 | #9 |
9. Fort Wayne Wayne | 7-2 | #8 |
10. Richmond | 12-0 | #10 |
Not much has changed here in Class 4A. However, we did finally move Fishers to #2 jumping Westfield. It feels unfair to make the move now when Westfield didn’t even play, but the Tigers body of work is just so impressive. Lawrence North remains #1 though. They are the best team in the state. Crispus Attucks flips with Kokomo after beating them in the Hall of Fame Classic.
