As always, you can count on Prep Hoops Indiana to be your go-to spot for coverage of everything over the next couple of very busy weeks. Also, don’t worry, we will have next week’s poll out on Christmas Day as well! Let’s dive on in and take a look at this week’s Top 10 in each class.
Class 1A – Top 10
Team | Record | Previous Ranking |
1. Evansville Christian | 6-1 | #1 |
2. Christian Academy | 6-0 | #2 |
3. Greenwood Christian | 6-1 | #3 |
4. Morgan Township | 5-2 | #7 |
5. Tindley | 5-1 | #4 |
6. Indianapolis Lutheran | 2-2 | #5 |
7. Orleans | 3-2 | #6 |
8. Loogootee | 7-1 | #9 |
9. Marquette Catholic | 4-1 | NR |
10. Triton | 6-0 | NR |
The top three of Evansville Christian, Christian Academy, and Greenwood Christian is starting to really take shape. Those appear to be your three primary contenders to win it all this season. Tindley suffered their first loss of the season last week and Lutheran was knocked off as well, but those were against good Class 3A and 4A teams respectively so not much to punish them for. Don’t sleep on Loogootee who appears to be strong once again quietly working their way up the rankings to #8.
Class 2A – Top 10
Team | Record | Previous Ranking |
1. Brownstown Central | 6-1 | #1 |
2. Tipton | 6-0 | #2 |
3. Providence | 5-1 | #3 |
4. Wapahani | 7-0 | #4 |
5. Bishop Luers | 5-0 | #5 |
6. Blackhawk Christian | 5-1 | #6 |
7. Park Tudor | 4-1 | #7 |
8. Adams Central | 3-0 | #8 |
9. Southwestern (Hanover) | 7-0 | #9 |
10. Paoli | 4-0 | NR |
Similar to Class 1A, the top of Class 2A is extremely solid. Those top four teams are all excellent with Bishop Luers knocking on the door as an undefeated at #5 as well. Look out for the Flying Jets at #8 who finally started their season and immediately rattled off three wins. Brownstown will play in the Bobcat of Daviess County Classic beginning on Thursday where they could ultimately get a rematch with Scottsburg in the championship on Saturday.
Class 3A – Top 10
Team | Record | Previous Ranking |
1. Brebeuf Jesuit | 5-1 | #3 |
2. Scottsburg | 6-2 | #4 |
3. Delta | 6-1 | #5 |
4. Guerin Catholic | 6-2 | #1 |
5. Danville | 6-0 | #6 |
6. Heritage Hills | 5-1 | #7 |
7. Bishop Noll | 5-1 | #8 |
8. Evansville Memorial | 3-2 | #2 |
9. Indian Creek | 6-1 | NR |
10. Peru | 5-2 | NR |
We’ve got a new number one here in Class 3A as Brebeuf Jesuit moves up following Guerin Catholic’s loss to Pendleton Heights. Those top four all could be pulled from a hat and placed anywhere at this point. It was admittedly hard to decide what to do with Evansville Memorial after losses to Bosse and Heritage Hills. The two losses came by a combined three points against good teams. In the end we dropped them from #2 to #8, but expect them to climb back up. It was also hard to leave Bosse out after defeating Memorial, but they just need to prove it further with a 2-4 overall record.
Class 4A – Top 10
Team | Record | Previous Ranking |
1. Lawrence North | 5-0 | #1 |
2. Westfield | 5-0 | #2 |
3. Fishers | 7-0 | #3 |
4. Cathedral | 6-0 | #4 |
5. Noblesville | 4-1 | #5 |
6. Kokomo | 6-2 | #7 |
7. Crispus Attucks | 5-2 | #8 |
8. Fort Wayne Wayne | 5-2 | #9 |
9. Plainfield | 6-1 | #10 |
10. Ben Davis | 4-2 | #6 |
Ben Davis was knocked off by Warren Central over the weekend, but remained in the Top 10 as there is no other clearly worthy team to take their place. The top four teams all remained undefeated and intact. We were supposed to get a matchup between Westfield and Noblesville but it was postponed due to sickness within the Shamrocks program. Attucks at Lawrence North on Tuesday, Fishers at Center Grove on Friday, and Noblesville at Anderson on Friday are some interesting matchups to watch.
