The season is underway, and there are plenty of guys who hit the ground running. We've been impressed by the performances of a few guys who could be considered “new names” – guys who hadn't been on our radar or who were waiting for their moment to shine.

Jalen Foy, 6-foot-2 guard, 2025, Topeka West:

Topeka West graduated several good players from last year's team. There were lots of minutes to be had and opportunities to take leadership. Foy has stepped into that void so far, leading the Chargers to two impressive wins. He opened with 23 against Basehor-Linwood, then racked up 16 against Seaman, hitting two 3-pointers in each game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2393789' first='Larkin' last='Turner'], 6-foot forward, 2025, Junction City:

We weren't sure what to expect from Junction City this season, but the Bluejays are off to a great start. A good portion of the credit goes to rugged multi-sport star Turner. He accounted for 15 against Great Bend. He came back with 12 against Salina South.

Lukas Dunham, 5-foot-11 guard, 2024, South Barber:

Dunham has flown under the radar at tiny South Barber, despite turning in a really good junior season. He put everyone on notice with 33 – more than half his team's points – in the opener against Caldwell. After a nice football season, he's ready to make even more waves on the court.

Aiden Troike, 6-foot-4 forward, 2024, Girard:

Girard was senior-heavy last year, so there was a question who would step up this season. In the opening game, it was Troike who tossed in 24. He's a big, powerful senior who could be primed for a big season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2314793' first='Howard' last='Peoples'], 6-foot-4 forward, 2024, Bishop Miege (pictured):

We've been waiting for a couple of years to see Peoples get his chance. After laboring at KC-Sumner, he's moved over to Miege for his senior campaign. This big, powerful athlete may be ready to finally tap into his full talents. He busted out with 24 – nearly half the Stags points – in an opening loss to KIPP Legacy. In the Miege program, watch for Peoples to rise to his potential.
