Coppedge had a great game in the Rams 74-56 win over North Lenoir, as he tallied 29 points to go along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals in the victory. He’s a strong bodied, physical scorer down low that just overpowers people and scores through them. His strength also gives him the capability to be a strong rebounder, and impact the ball on defense. Would love to see him start developing a perimeter game, but there’s plenty of potential and room to grow.

Mirikwe is a rapid riser in our rankings, and he turned in another set of impressive performances last week. He put up 18, 26 and 24 points as the Tigers went 3/3 in the win column last week. He’s been the go-to guy this year, doing most of his damage in the paint and in the mid-range. He’s slithery and knows how to get to his spots, and selectively will take the three ball when he has a good look. He’s rapidly playing his way onto collegiate radars with this kind of year.
West Charlotte were being wrote off this season, but they made a statement with a road win over Mallard Creek last week, one that Day played a big part in. The senior had 32 in the 85-82 win, including six three pointers. He’s a name that has emerged due to his three level scoring ability and his on court leadership. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and isn’t afraid of any matchup. He’ll look to keep Dub-C off to a good start these next few weeks.
Burleyson hasn’t had the hottest start to the year, but he showed out Friday in the win over Cornerstone Charter. He had 25 points and 4 steals, knocking down 5 3 pointers as well to go with it. He can shoot it as well as make plays in the mid-range, and it shows as his team expects him to score the rock primarily. He should continue to receive interest and exposure as his team gets some nice matchups later in the season.
Highlights
Holbrook is a strong post prospect that put together another big game vs. Huss last Thursday, pouring 26 points to get Hickory to a 4-0 start. He’s really strong in the legs and dominates the interior, both with the ball in her hands and also on the glass. He’s got a few D3 offers and should be somebody to keep an eye on as he continues to lead Hickory to be a 3A contender.
Magner had 21 points in both of his Pine Lake teams wins last week, over Christ the King and North Iredell. He’s strong in the interior and makes difficult shots look easy in the mid-range with his frame. He should be a name for D2 and some LM D1s to get eyes on as a wing that could really impact the game with his physicality and effort.
