Garner High didn’t hesitate to get things going right away as they jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead before Millbrook would get on the board. Halfway through the quarter, Garner would hold the lead throughout and an And-1 from Cam Reyes Cam Reyes 6'0" | CG Garner | 2025 State NC made things 16-10 after one quarter.
The Trojans would come out firing on all cylinders in the second quarter as their 6-point lead grew to 12 points as they opened the quarter on a 6-0 run. Millbrook would call a timeout to regroup then go on an 8-0 run of their own to make it 22-18 with 2:45 left in the first half.
At halftime, Garner led Millbrook 30-25.
In the third quarter, Garner would continue to try to build their lead, but the Wildcats would keep things close. They trailed by three with four minutes left in the quarter then only trailed 42-40 after three quarters as Colt Langdon Colt Langdon 6'7" | SG Millbrook | 2025 State #114 Nation NC started to get hot.
With the game all tied up at 51, Langdon would get a block and fastbreak layup to give Millbrook their first lead of the night, 53-51, and they never looked back. They quickly built up a 58-52 lead with 1:14 left following some big buckets from Alex Olander Alex Olander 6'4" | SF Millbrook | 2024 State NC . Millbrook would run away with a victory in the end, 62-57.
Langdon kept his composure throughout and got hot when needed to lead the Wildcats to victory. Whenever the ball came his way, he made sure something good happened for Millbrook and it showed as he finished with a game-high 30 points, with 20 coming in the second half and 11 in the fourth quarter. He continues to show off his ability to lead on the hardwood.
Highlights
Olander did well to play a physical brand of basketball and kept himself involved in the game despite battling through foul trouble for most of the game. He came up big in the fourth quarter with seven points to pace the offense and show off his presence in the painted area. He’s a 6-foot-5 prospect for DII and DIII programs to get eyes on.
Scott led the charge off the bench for Garner High despite the result. He finished with 18 points including eight points in the fourth quarter to try to surge the Trojans to victory. He was an aggressive presence who did well to get to the free throw line and make things happen as a driving threat. He also knocked down a 3-pointer in the fourth.
Whitner didn’t have the best shooting night but he still managed to stay involved in the game and find ways to impact the game. He finished with nine points including an And-1 opportunity in the fourth quarter as the Trojans tried to battle back into the game.
Highlights
Beale was impressive for the first three quarters but then his offense sputtered in the fourth. He finished with 10 points but went scoreless in the decisive fourth quarter. He’ll need to find his groove in the late stages of games as the season progresses.
