In the day’s first game, Flint Hill routed Woodbridge by almost 30. Quin Gorman Quin Gorman 6’8″ | PF Flint Hill | 2024 State VA had a dominant first half, and this game was decided after a big second quarter. Quin Dominated in the paint early with a few dunks. Gorman knocked down a few open shots, and things came easy for him on the offensive end. He scored all 14 points in the first half, and he and Flint Hill coasted after the break.
Highlights
Jamard Jones
Jamard Jones
Lousiania’s Archbishop Rummel and St. Mary’s Ryken played a competitive and hard-fought game. Archbishop Rummel’s big Jamard Jones had himself an excellent game. Jamard used his strength and mass effectively, and St. Mary’s Ryken had a tough time dealing with him. Jamard is a crafty finisher and has a solid face-up game. He played bully ball all game, and in a game that finished 58-49, Rummel’s way, Jamard’s 22 points were massive.
Jack Hill
Jack Hill
Woodgrove vs. Brooke Point was truly a game of two halves and a terrific basketball game overall. A lot of the first half saw Brooke Point trying to trap Woodgrove in the backcourt. So many times, you see this discombobulate teams, but it didn’t affect Woodgrove that much. Woodgrove point guard Jack Hill was a big reason for this. Jack Hill was composed in the first half and had some fantastic finishes around the rim. Woodgrove had the advantage in the backcourt on the day, so when the game was played at a faster pace in the first half, it benefitted Jack Hill and Woodgrove. Hill finished with 11.
Junior G/F Kenny Chicas Kenny Chicas 6’2″ | PG Woodgrove | 2025 State VA is another player who had a big first half for Woodgrove. As I said earlier, the first half for Woodgrove was fantastic, and they got many open shots. Kenny knocked down a few threes and benefitted from some Brooke Point turnovers that allowed Woodgrove to get out in transition. Kenny had some excellent finishes, and even though he was effective on offense early, he never really played out of his role. Kenny finished with 17 points, and Woodgrove needed every one of them in a game they won by 2 points.
Dane Marsh
Dane Marsh
Woodgrove struggled on the glass for most of the game, and after their dominant first half, their lack of rebounding was part of what got Brooke Point back in the game. Dane Marsh had some foul trouble early, but I thought he was Woodgrove’s best player in the second half. He grabbed some tough rebounds, and on the last play of the game, his defense at the rim prevented Brooke Point in their efforts to send the game to overtime. Marsh finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Gabriel Pinzon
Gabriel Pinzon
As I’ve mentioned, the second half of this Woodgrove Brooke Point game was dominated by Brooke Point. Brooke Point’s rebounding and different approach defensively helped, but Junior guard Gabriel Pinzon was huge in them getting back into the game. Pinzon doesn’t usually play a ton of minutes, but he was on the court for much of the second half. Pinzon had tough drives to the rim and knocked down a big 3. His energy on defense was fantastic, and he had an incredible chase-down block late in the first half.
