Davion Worthy (UP Bronzeville) 2025 6’0
What a shooting performance from Worthy as he lit the nets up with his shooting. Hitting 4 threes in the win over Muchin. He’s a poised guard who also can beat you off the dribble if you close out on him out of control.
Davon Simpson (Richards Career Academy) 2024
Simpson is a bulky guard who has been known to get to the rack and finish through contact. In the first round, he was able to display his jumper as he knocked down several shots from three and the mid-range. If the lane opened he drove to the rim and was fouled a lot. Davon made all of his charity shots which helped his team to victory and a spot on the list.
Alonte Reynolds (Ogden international) 2024
I like the energy Alonte played with in his game against Johnson Prep. He’s a fast twitch guard who gets in the lane with his handle and quickness. Alonte scored from all three levels, with most of his scoring coming from around the rim. On defense, he was just as active getting to lose balls and deflections while playing the passing lanes. Reynolds has the tools to play in college next year.
Terrance Seals (Johnson Prep) 2025
There is always one player that emerges from the unknown and Seals may be the player this year. A 6’5 physical prospect who plays with power and finesse. Terrance looked the part but also has the tools, a fluid-looking jump shot with handles and touch at the rim. On rebounds, he snatches boards at the highest point. As an evaluator, I look forward to tracking his production the next 3 days.
Cyrus Jones Cyrus Jones 6'0" | PG Julian | 2024 State IL (Julian) 2024
Maybe the only PHI-ranked player in this event showed why he is that. Jones did a little bit of everything in his first-round game. From hitting shots from deep to setting up players off drives and kickouts for assists. Cyrus was seen rebounding on the offense and defensive side of the ball from the PG position. Jones has become a well-rounded player this season and today he showcased that.
Demarco King Demarco King 6'2" | PG King | 2027 IL (King) 2027
Yes, there is another freshman who’s making an impact early on the varsity level. This is a kid whose name has been seen often in the stats sheets and yesterday was no different. Demarco posted 20 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds in a win over Fenger. I expect to see more of this from King for the rest of the tournament.
