[player_tooltip player_id='1578726' first='Xialin' last='Lenoir'] broke a couple of ankles, flipped the rock to [player_tooltip player_id='1563745' first='Daunte' last='White'], who reversed it back to an open [player_tooltip player_id='2308938' first='Steven' last='Sherman']. Sherman buried a three-pointer to give LaVergne a 59-44 lead late. Turned to his teammates and peacocked.

The Opening

The Wolverines surged out quickly, 8-2, behind quick and hungry guards [player_tooltip player_id='1947172' first='Landon' last='Bryant'] (PrepHoopsTN Combine Co-MVP) and [player_tooltip player_id='1578726' first='Xialin' last='Lenoir']. Lenoir's jumper at 5:29 made the black and blue look like world-beaters, then up 10-4. With Bryant's three-pointer LHS opened it up to 15-7.

After 1Q, 23-14 LaVergne made everything. CHS was swapping lineups, searching.

[player_tooltip player_id='1563745' first='Daunte' last='White'] did not start for LaVergne. He came in with just over 4 minutes to play in the first quarter.

Clarksville Head Coach Ted Young reached deep into his bench early and played all ten guys throughout. The seemingly erratic sub pattern solved the languishing Wildcats in the second quarter though. The comeback does not happen without the involvement of all 10.

The first half ended 32-28. LaVergne slowed slightly with apparent fatigue and CHS elected to take more mid-range shots in their profitable second quarter.

Second Half

LaVergne played hungrier coming out of the locker room to start the third quarter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1563745' first='Daunte' last='White'] looked wildly off from the free throw line. Still, he was aggressive around the rim in pursuit of buckets and rebounds. Teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1578726' first='Xialin' last='Lenoir'] appeared to sarcastically give White a firm handshake after he finally made a free throw, after missing many. White smiled and made another right after.

White's best play of the day was a designed slash off of a baseline inbounds. He dribbled to the heart of a collapsing defense and dropped off a lovely pass to a slashing teammate. LHS led 38-30 with 4:40 left in the third quarter. The Wolverines operated a little two-man game with Bryant and White for a stretch.
