Checking in on Gallatin Green Wave

Gallatin is out to a great 10-4 start, pending the result against Knoxville Catholic out in Pigeon Forge.
Head Coach Bobby Luna prepares his teams every year, but there are certainly ups and downs with the amount of talent in the program. This team is enjoying one of the “ups” with seniors RJ Crenshaw RJ Crenshaw 6'3" | SG Gallatin | 2024 State TN and De’costa Ricks De’costa Ricks 6'1" | PG Gallatin | 2024 State TN providing scoring.
Ricks is just a little bit quicker than his peers. The shooter/slasher creates problems, a lot of problems for Gallatin’s enemies.

Logan Hesson earned Most Improved from the coaching staff at the conclusion of his sophomore season. The junior forward took another leap in the last 6-8 months. Hesson is a lefty with good strength who plays with kind of a hulking posture. Often Hesson powers up and gets up into the contact when attempting a layup. He can shoot a little from the outside, which most teams do not expect. Senior teammate Crenshaw and Ricks, the team leaders, are more than willing to involve Hesson in the offense. Facing Lebanon mid-December, Ricks and Crenshaw tried feeding the post repeatedly.
Trevarius Reed showed that he can play with speed. The first-step quickness of Reed is special. The guard is shorter than many defenders though, so he must get a decent separation to get his layup off.
RJ Crenshaw RJ Crenshaw 6'3" | SG Gallatin | 2024 State TN plays with patience, sometimes too much of it. The lanky wing can hit the outside shot or get off of the deck to dunk in traffic. Fellow senior De’costa Ricks De’costa Ricks 6'1" | PG Gallatin | 2024 State TN will challenge for District MVP thanks to his strong three-point shooting and tenacious defense. Ricks plays with long, active arms. Great footwork.
Bench Contributions
#11 Devonte Harris (2025)
#20 PF/SF Maxwell Moore (2025)
Devonte Harris (’25 guard) is very quick with the feet. More importantly, perhaps, Harris makes good decisions when he gets to the dangerous areas of the court. For example, when facing Lebanon he burst along the baseline by beating his man. Instead of forcing a very difficult layup he scooped a pass underneath to his teammate for a simple 2 points. Harris sped up the defense with his dribble and slashing. He becomes more dangerous on offense. Gallatin plays a lot of zone defense, so he is not moving as much on that end.
