Thursday, December 7th I attended the 5A Campo Verde Coyotes at the 6A Highland Hawks freedom game.

Before the varsity tipped off, I checked out the Junior Varsity game to see some good younger players.

62-56 Highland JV won.

Here were the Junior Varsity Standouts:

[player_tooltip player_id='2291967' first='Kyle' last='Bogart'] Highland (Pictured)

A good sized power forward is skilled. He can face-up to the three and has a nice pull-up from mid-range. He keeps the ball high to go up and score. He is fluid enough to handle the ball for his size and moves well from end to end. He blocks shots in his area and springs up to rebound with a quick second jump. He will close out to shooters impressively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291969' first='Jack' last='Robinson'] Highland

A combo guard can score on back door cuts, blow bys to the rim with a good handle and can shoot perimeter jumpers. His initial burst makes him harder to cover. He can crossover his man decently and gain some separation. He uses ball screens and throws the dime. He has a nice three point set shot off the catch and has a sneaky tight handle to handle pressure.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291970' first='Kole' last='Wadsworth'] Highland

A thicker framed guard uses it to get downhill and almost seeks the contact. He has a clean stroke from the free throw line or perimeter. He will give up his body on defense to rebound, pester his opponents or take a charge. He changes speeds to get a step on his defender to get to the rim with his dominant right hand.

Max Brown CG 5'11 2026 Highland

A combo guard who plays a little on and off the ball. He can hit the catch three with a clean release and a very quick trigger. His free throw stroke is really easy and is very competitive on defense.

Wyatt Arnold SG 5'9 2026 Highland

An undersized scoring guard can dribble drive to the basket with a nice handle. He came up clutch and made free throws in the fourth that essentially iced the game. He is a good on ball defender and team player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291971' first='Jackson' last='Gillard'] Campo Verde

A scoring guard with a quick first step and burst to get to the basket with either hand and handles contact well. He can hit the catch three with a quick release and will put his nose in the paint to rebound. He is a good passer and is disruptive on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291972' first='Andrew' last='Marquez'] Campo Verde

An undersized combo guard can catch and shoot from the three point line. The lefty will rattle them off when left open. His pull-up from mid-range is clean. He also slithers into the lane with his tight handle and speed. He knows how to change speeds and is really calm. He has a quick burst to the rim and made multiple clutch plays down the stretch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291968' first='Carter' last='Pratchard'] Campo Verde

A good sized four-man can face up to the three point line and he can crab dribble and go to work. He is a good passer at the high post and has an efficient jump hook shot he often utilizes. He plays JV and varsity.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291973' first='Connor' last='Tefteller'] Campo Verde

An undersized point guard is smart off of the pick and roll game. He moves the ball and will get downhill. The lefty is best off the catch from the arc and will hesitate to get the defense off balanced. He rebounds well despite his size.
