Eastwood High School is led by the success of junior point guard Devin Falk-Ramirez Devin Falk-Ramirez 6’0″ | PG Eastwood | 2025 TX . If he has a good game, it usually means it has been a good day for the Troopers. That said, his younger brother, freshman point guard Julien Falk-Ramirez Julien Falk-Ramirez 5’10” | PG Eastwood | 2027 TX is starting to make a name for himself. Moreover, he plays awfully similar to his brother with his great court awareness and willingness to get teammates involved. He currently functions as Eastwood’s sixth man and brings a boost of energy off the bench. I was in attendance for arguably his best game of the season as he recorded 13-points, 5 assists, and three steals against Socorro High School this past week. Falk-Ramirez was brilliantly defensively and in transition as the Troopers blew past the Bulldogs.
David Falk-Ramirez
David Falk-Ramirez
As stated above, if David Falk-Ramirez plays well, so do the Troopers. In Eastwood’s early week game against Socorro the junior point guard did whatever he wanted offensively. Falk-Ramirez finished with 19-points in three quarters, scoring from every level. Even more impressive is that he could have had more if he wanted to. If you have ever seen Falk-Ramirez play, you know he is as unselfish as any player in the city. Eastwood played such a dominant game offensively and defensively against the Bulldogs and their star guard was the main reason why.

After this past week, Chapin has now won 60 straight games against El Paso schools. It’s a tremendous feat that does not seem like it will stop anytime soon, nor will the high-level play of their star guard Brandon Hymes Brandon Hymes 6’4″ | SG El Paso Chapin | 2024 State TX . The senior dropped 27 and 21-points against Hanks and Parkland High school respectively. Hymes is having a phenomenal year for the Huskies, averaging a career high in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. Furthermore, at this pace he is going to put himself in contention for every player accolade the city of El Paso has to offer. The ball keeps rolling for the Huskies and Hymes.
Azaiah Thompson
Azaiah Thompson
It is hard to follow up a sophomore year where you average 19-points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals per game but Azaiah Thompson is doing just that as a standout junior at Ysleta High School. This past week he scored 27 points in a crucial win against Jefferson High School, which is his eighth game with 20 or more points this season. Thompson is one of the premier wing scorers the Borderland has to offer, and he is playing his best basketball of the season right now. Moreover, he is one of a handful of players in the area who you can comfortably rely on getting you 20-plus a night.
