DJ Brown DJ Brown 6'4" | SF Wichita Southeast | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-5 forward, 2025, Wichita Southeast:
Brown got the season off with a huge performance in a one-point win over Bishop Carroll, notching 22 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. The lefty has a versatile game that creates trouble for defenses. He can knock it down from well beyond the arc, can put it on the floor and knife through the defense to get to jumpers, and he has the length to finish around the rim as well as to post up and score on putbacks. This is a junior who should be a big riser.
Brady Collar Brady Collar 6'3" | SG Olathe West | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-3 guard, 2025, Olathe West:
This junior tore up the Norm Stewart Classic in Columbia, showing off his attacking style from the point. He torched the nets and grabbed double-digit rebounds against the competition from the neighboring state. Collar is especially dangerous as a guard who slips in to grab a lot of defensive rebounds. Once the ball is in his hands, it’s a track meet to the other end. He attacks the rim and scores a lot of acrobatic finishes and “and 1’s.”
Matt Corrales, 6-foot-3 guard, 2024, Olathe South:
Corrales is blowing up as a senior, showing the abilities we saw on the club level and were waiting to see at his high school. This unranked guy looks like he could be one of the big risers in our January update. He’s playing like one of the best shooting guards in the KC area. He’s a true three-level scorer who has been lighting it up from deep.
Maddox Spray Maddox Spray 6'1" | CG Great Bend | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2024, Great Bend:
Spray has flown a bit under the radar from a basketball perspective, but this multi-sport performer is going to get recognized this year. He is a gritty, versatile and selfless player who doesn’t always get the headlines or make the highlight plays, but is always making something positive happen. He earned all-tournament in the recent Kingman Eagle Classic and is going to factor into what should be a very strong Great Bend team this year.
Talan Torrez, 6-foot-1 guard, 2024, Baldwin:
Torrez is providing a talent that is making everyone around him – long range shooting. The senior is hitting 44% from deep, which distorts defenses and allows others to make plays. Torrez is a lanky guard with the length to get shots off. He played a key role in the trip to state last year, and his role will grow as a senior.
