Conference Commentary
Top Ten in State: Caledonia
The Warriors bring back all of their pieces from a 16-win team. Now older and more mature they are expected to be contenders for conference, section, and maybe even a state championship if pieces fall correctly. The Warriors should be back to their top five in Class AA ways.
Top Ten in State Potential: Rushford-Peterson, Fillmore Central
Both Rushford-Peterson were 8-6 against conference foes, both were a few games over .500 last year, both bring back a star player for their school as well as some other veterans, and both teams are expected to be better this year pushing for 20 wins. Both are also top 25 teams in Class A entering the winter.
Compete with Most: Winona Cotter, La Crescent-Hokah, Lewiston-Altura, Wabasha-Kellogg
After a nine win season and bringing back their best player in Luke Gardner, Winona Cotter should move towards double figure wins. La Crescent-Hokah will look different and they lost a star but the team should still be solid each night competing hard. Well coached program. Lewiston-Altura should also be solid but not spectacular in that lower double digit win total area. They have some key pieces back and Parker McQuin Parker McQuin 6'2" | PG La Crescent | 2024 State MN back from injury. Wabasha-Kellogg brings back a couple key pieces and should be in that .500 area
Rebuilding: Chatfield, PEM, Dover-Eyota, St. Charles
Chatfield graduated four all league players that averaged 53 of their 58 points a game a season ago. They will be going through a bit of a change. PEM graduated stars in Stevens and Peters plus key reserves in Herber and Wozney. They will also be going through quite a change. Dover-Eyota won just two games and they might be rebuilding again but they should take a step forward after building their foundation a bit. St. Charles was 4-23 last season and they return a smaller team.
