Conference Commentary
Top Ten in State: Spring Grove
Injury or no injury, Spring Grove should be the best team in the league and have a chance to make a run at state once again. Elijah Solum Elijah Solum 6'2" | SG Spring Grove | 2024 State MN will come back later in the year and when he does he will join several good players primed for a memorable year.
Top Contenders: Schaeffer Academy, Southland
You can live in the past and think of what Schaeffer Academy would have been had it not been for a transfer, or you can see what is back and realize that they are still going to be one of the better teams in this league. We are going to think of the second part! Southland returns most of their team from a 15-11 season so they are thinking top of league status and likely have the players to make a run.
Compete with Most: Glenville-Emmons, Kingsland, Lanesboro, Leroy-Ostrander, Mabel-Canton
Glenville-Emmons won eight games last year but they do return their best players which should lead to an improved team. With a top player in the league in Jayden Brink Jayden Brink 6'0" | SG Kingsland | 2024 State MN and returning players from a 13-14 team, Kingsland should have a much better season. Lanesboro should be solid again but the lost of three starters including a couple league guys could make winning at least 17 games a tough task. But they should be .500 and solid. Leroy-Ostrander was young last year and they were banged up leading to a rough record. They will be better, how much we don’t know, but they will be better. Mabel-Canton should be a team on the up as they return one of the best players in the league in Cayden Tollefsrud Cayden Tollefsrud 5'9" | PG Mabel-Canton | 2024 State MN plus some others returning.
Rebuilding: Grand Meadow, Houston, Lyle-Austin Pacelli
Grand Meadow won two games last year, they lost their top players, and they have only four upperclassmen (and only one of those are seniors). That would be the definition of a rebuild. Houston is in a slightly better spot than Grand Meadow, but not much. They have just one senior this year coming off a five win year. Nobody lost what Lyle-Austin Pacelli did with a full group of starters gone and several reserves.
