Prep Hoops Florida scouts will be on the grounds of the event. Here are some of the top seniors to watch for this weekend:
The 6-5 senior combo guard and future Stetson University Hatter is a dual-threat guard where he can impact the game with and without the basketball in his hands. Phillips is the engine that initiates the offense where he can be the primary point guard as well as play off the ball at an extremely high level. On the defensive side, he can guard positions 1 through 5 on the floor as he showcases great speed and athleticism where he covers a ton of ground.
The 6-6 shooting guard and Yale commit can score in a variety of ways whether it’s in transition or on dribble-drives to the basket. He has a quick first step where he can finish at the front of the rim against multiple defenders with his patience and athleticism. On the defensive side, Celiscar plays with a ton of versatility as well as a high-level rebounder who can push the tempo. He also has strong body control where he plays defense at the front of the rim without fouling at a high level.
The 6-5 guard and Kennesaw State commit has a strong knack for finishing lobs at the front of the rim, as well as shooting from the perimeter off the catch. He does a great job when it comes to rebounding on both ends of the floor, where he can outmuscle the opposition and score off of put-backs. He is also an underrated defender where he can guard multiple positions utilizing his versatility.
The 6-5 guard has a strong knack for scoring off the catch whether it’s at the front of the rim or from beyond the arc. His outside shot has continued to improve as he is displaying more confidence this season as well. He is also an above-average rebounder and defender where he can guard multiple positions using his length to an advantage as well. Look for Wilson to have a more improved senior season as he continues to showcase he can be one of the top two-way prospects in the state.
The 6-1 point guard is multi-dimensional with his skillset where he can finish lobs or shoot from the perimeter on the offensive end. He displays great court vision and makes the right reads finding open teammates showcasing his ability to play unselfish. He can push the basketball in transition as he has a smooth handle and doesn’t seem to get phased when defenders pressure him. On the defensive end, he is long and quick where he can cover a ton of ground as well as an above-average rebounder for his size.
Murray is explosive on the offensive end where he also displays great court vision and has a strong IQ. His defensive mechanics have also continued to improve as he can guard on and off the ball at a high level. His rebounding and rim protection have also continued to improve as Murray brings athleticism and length to the table. I expect Murray to have a big senior season this year.
Bureau, A 6-0 senior guard can score and distribute the basketball at a high level where he has great success finishing at the front of the rim. His court vision has also continued to impress me as he is an excellent passer at finding open teammates in the perimeter. He shows great promise on the defensive end where he can jump passing lanes turning defense into offense as he gets the basketball quickly in transition off steals.
