"Last season we ended up finishing 3rd in a very competitive Region with a 14-12 record. Throughout the course of the year, we had to handle some adversity and relied on young guys stepping into larger roles. We had a great group of seniors that set the tone for the team. One senior was lost mid-way through the year, Carter Bonogofsky a two-year starting guard. [player_tooltip player_id='1144986' first='Javin' last='Friesz'] carried us offensively and is a true game-changer. The rest of the guys rallied around Javin and our seniors to finish strong upsetting Standing Rock in the first round of Regionals after losing to them twice during the regular season. We look forward to the experiences from this past season to help shape this year's team."   PHD: How did the off-season go for your team/program?   "This off-season we saw a number of players take advantage of getting into the gym for skill development, open gym, and the weight room. We participated in the Hazen Summer League and a number of team camps. With the growth from the summer competition and training along with another year of experience of playing, we look forward to our returning players being ready to roll at the start of this season."   PHD: Who are a few of your top players to look out for?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1144986' first='Javin' last='Friesz'], tremendous competitor, All-Stater, team leader, he steers the ship! And an even better person, he is a treat to coach."   "[player_tooltip player_id='2281066' first='Grant' last='Hauge'], jr. We are looking for Grant to take a jump this year, he has the savvy and smarts to be a factor when teams try to take away Javin. He is a gym rat who is a hard worker."   "[player_tooltip player_id='2281065' first='Pine' last='Fleck'], JR., He is a tremendous athlete who has really made strides. We look forward to him impacting the game with his athletic ability and energy." He is a long athletic player who can impact the game inside/outside, we will need him to continue to work hard at improving and expect him to be a contributor." He will slide over to our main ball handler position without Heid, he has great potential to be an impact player who is growing with his experience and confidence. PHD: What style of basketball will your team play?   "First and foremost we want to be disruptive on defense and make it difficult for our opponents to execute what they want to do. We will need to be a team rebounding team. We want to get out into transition to take advantage when we can, if not we want to execute to get a great look."   PHD: What are a couple of your team goals this year?   "With us moving to the new class B alignment we will look forward to qualifying for Regionals. We want to be efficient offensively and defensively we want to get 6 kills a contest (3 stops in a row)."   PHD: Who are some of the top teams in Region 3?   "Bowman County is loaded and the favorite in our Region. Other teams that are expected to be contenders include GUH, Hettinger, Washburn, & Garrison."
