They may be the rookies of their new squads, but these 5 players have shown they are ready to step right in and make an immediate impact at the high school level. Let’s take a closer look at these prospects and how they can benefit their respective teams this upcoming season.
Timarion Howard
Timarion Howard
I look for this kid to come in and start right away for the Indians. He has great knowledge of the game and is just a physically gifted athlete. He can score in bunches, where he excels at attacking the rim but can also knock down the open jumper when needed. Howard is an elite rebounder on both ends of the floor and has great size and strength for his age. He really prides himself in his defense where he can guard every position and won’t back down from any assignment. Keep a close eye on Howard as he continues to develop his game, he’s a prospect with very high upside.
Jenkins is an extremely talented all-around player. He is a strong, athletic kid with great handles for his size. He can score from outside but seems to excel being aggressive and taking it to the hole, where he’s very effective finishing at the rim with contact. Jenkins is another guy who has the ability to guard any position and is an above-average rebounder. He high has a high basketball IQ and gives it 110% on both sides of the ball. Continue to monitor this prospect, where he looks to be a key contributor for the Pirates right from the jump.
Highlights
Eddie Gore
Eddie Gore
This prospect may be one of the most athletic kids I’ve ever seen at this age. He is a dual-sport athlete with a motor that never stops running. Gore is a very strong and fast player who likes to push the ball and get out and run. He is extremely aggressive attacking the rim, but can also knock down the 3-ball. He is an absolute dog on defense, where he will be in your face for 94 ft. and is an asset on the boards with how quick he can get off the floor. Gore is a prospect with major upside that all coaches should keep an eye on.
Allan Rivera
Allan Rivera
Rivera is a true point guard with great knowledge of the game. He has solid handles and is an aggressive playmaker, who likes to attack the basket and finish at the rim, or dish it to a teammate for an open shot. He’s not just a creator though, he has the ability to score form beyond the arc, but also has a very a solid mid-range game, making him a true 3-level scorer. Rivera will be a major contributor for Canterbury this season and a prospect to monitor as he continues to develop his game and mature.
Jahquez Outten
Jahquez Outten
Another dual-sport athlete, Outten has tremendous upside. He plays well beyond his age, where he is an emotional and vocal leader for the Sentinels. The 5’10” PG has an athletic frame and plays with a lot of heart and passion. His high basketball IQ and great court vision make him a true floor general. Outten likes to drive and dish but if you leave him open he’ll knock down the jumper. As only a freshmen, he already gained some varsity experience, where he saw some minutes as an 8th grader. Keep an eye on this prospect, and look for him to have a major roll with ECS this upcoming season.
