Coahulla Creek (65) @ Signal Mountain (63)

From the outset the hosting Eagles faced a floating 3-2 zone. They could not find success from the jumper.

For Signal Mountain the point guard was [player_tooltip player_id='1214894' first='Andrew' last='Matukewicz']. His handle looked ok. Composure is an attribute he leaned on.

Both Andrew and backcourt-mate [player_tooltip player_id='1214893' first='Ben' last='Timblin'] (Wofford baseball signee) earned their way to the free throw line. It was the only success the team found early offensively.

Overall, the team played decent on-ball defense and trapped quite well around the midcourt. Establishing anything under the basket remained a bridge too far for the Eagles though.

Clarksville Northwest (59) @ LEAD Academy (71)

LEAD Academy ran over the Northwest Vikings, 71-59.

LEAD is coming off a crushing at the hands of C.P.A. Their body language did not convey defeat. Against a bouncy Northwest Viking team, LEAD came out clawing. Active defensively, [player_tooltip player_id='2116000' first='AJ' last='Petway'] earned his way to the free throw line repeatedly. LEAD's zone principles worked quite well in the first half particularly. They led 26-16.

Ahmad Harvey (Northwest) was physical. He did not consistently attack and the basketball did not often find him early. His success rate upon touches was high though.

In the second quarter, Harvey's steal on an attempted crossover gave the visiting Vikings some life. He finished up with a challenged layup on the other end.

A star of the second quarter was [player_tooltip player_id='2285497' first='Jalen' last='Jefferson']. Jefferson created two steals on successive possessions. Both resulted in layup attempts, though he split the pair. Jefferson's free throws looked spotty.

Ahmad Harvey hit a statuesque three-pointer late in the second quarter. It was the first time LEAD looked vulnerable all game. It pulled the Vikings to within 7 points, down 33-26.
