<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Below is a preview of the six prospects in the Berks County Interscholastic Athletic Association who we believe will contend for Player of the Year honors.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Yadiel Cruz </strong><strong>– 6'2” / 2024 / Reading / [program_tooltip program_id='2078709' first='Team' last='Final'] Red / Shooting Guard:</strong> The graduation of 2022-23 Berks POY and All-State guard Ruben Rodriguez means that this slasher wing prospect will be option No. 1 for Reading this season. Cruz (8.5 ppg. last season) is a speedy and versatile athlete who can score in transition. He also excels in isolation play. His 18-point performance in last March's District 3-6A championship game was a sample of things to come from Cruz during his senior campaign.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1850267' first='Reece' last='Garvin'] </strong><strong>– 6'3” / 2024 / Exeter / PMT Warriors / Shooting Guard:</strong> Garvin is one of two players we expect to lead the Exeter program after it graduated several standouts from a 2022-23 team that accumulated 27 victories, won a District 3 title and advanced to the 5A state championship game. Garvin (11 ppg. last year) is a lethal 3-point shooter with a quick trigger and logo range. When he is not splashing triples (50 3PM in 2022-23), Garvin can create off the dribble for himself and teammates. Garvin is also an extremely underrated rebounder. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Donovan Gingrich </strong><strong>– 6'1″ / 2025 / Conrad Weiser / Shooting Guard:</strong> When Gingrich is done playing quarterback for the CW football team, he hits the hardwood where last year he was a 1^st Team All-League (Div 2) selection. As a sophomore Gingrich contributed a team leading 14.3 points per game and laced 58 threes on the season. Obviously, Gingrich is automatic from behind the arc, but with his quickness, instincts, and creative finishing skills he thrives in the open court too. On defense, Gingrich is an on-ball menace who produces steals and deflections. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1481147' first='Madyx' last='Gruber'] </strong><strong>– 5'10″ / 2025 / Wilson / [program_tooltip program_id='2078709' first='Team' last='Final'] Red / Point Guard:</strong> Gruber is another Berks hoops prospect who excels on the football field (WR) during the fall. Last season on the court, Gruber proved he could score at all 3-levels by posting games of 26 and 23 points. He is extremely effective in transition as a scorer and distributer. In the half-court, Gruber's change of pace moves get him into the paint where he can score via floaters or lay-ins. Once he is in the lane, Gruber can execute kick out passes as well. As a nice bonus, Gruber is a major plus defensive player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2229823' first='Josh' last='McKoy'] </strong><strong>– 6'4” / 2024 / Berks Catholic / PMT Warriors / Shooting Guard:</strong> In 2022-23 McKoy averaged 10 ppg. playing alongside volume scorer Josiah Jordan (Wilkes-Barre Univ). This season McKoy will ascend to the No. 1option at Berks Catholic and this multi-skilled backcourt prospect is ready for that promotion. McKoy possesses length, a solid frame, a high IQ, and a nice shooting touch. Those assets enable McKoy to run as a shooting guard or as a “big” point guard. McKoy can score over most guards. His elusive handles enable McKoy to blow past forwards for lay-ins or dunks. McKoy can shoot the tree-ball too. On defense, McKoy can guard 1 through 4.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2226362' first='Kevin' last='Saenz'] </strong><strong>– 6'4” / 2024 / Exeter / PMT Warriors / Shooting Guard: </strong>One of the top scorers from Exeter's District 3 championship and 5A state runner up team returns for what should be a monster senior season. Saenz is a crazy versatile prospect who stuffed that stat book in 2022-23 -- 14 ppg., 4.7 apg., and 4 rpg. His elite scoring skills, size and athleticism enable Saenz to score at all three levels. Saenz owns an automatic jumper (40 3PM last season) and can attack the cup off the bounce. When he puts the ball on the floor, Saenz's excellent court vision enables him to find open shooters around the arc or drop a dime on a big in the dunker spot. Saenz is a Swiss Army knife on defense and can guard 1 through 4. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
