It was a great day of basketball at Spain Park, talent from all over the state squaring off in front of multiple PrepHoops scouts. Here’s a short list of players that improved their stock on Saturday.
6’5 senior Christian Miller Christian Miller 6’5″ | SF Wiregrass | 2024 State AL put together a strong showing on Saturday and his scoring numbers were up there with the best of them. He possesses brute strength and explosive athleticism which makes for a ton of versatility at his size. We saw Miller’s ability to play above the rim with several alley-top dunks on the afternoon. He can stroke the three-ball with deep range as well. Miller’s stock is rising after this weekend and small school programs would be wise to take interest.
Rowen Thornton continued to add confidence throughout the camp and it was clear by the day’s end that Thornton was one of the more talented prospects in the gym. Thornton was really showing off the springs, a countless number of dunks on the afternoon. He proved effective as a spot-up shooter as well and made the most of his open looks. Thornton will continue to tap into his full potential as he adds strength and polishes the skillset. His #102 ranking could very well be on the rise after a great showcase.
Highlights
Tyler Robertson Tyler Robertson 6’3″ | SF Calhoun | 2025 State AL may have been the most impressive prospect I saw in Birmingham this weekend. Robertson’s brute strength gave him an advantage against most defenders and he was able to bulldoze his way to the cup on numerous occasions. We saw plenty of isolation sets in which Robertson attacked from the perimeter and when defenses began to collapse, he found open shooters along the perimeter. There’s still plenty of work to put in but Robertson showed us the makings of a future college prospect.
We first caught Jalen Bright Jalen Bright 6’3″ | SG Hazel Green | 2024 State AL this spring when he was running with the Alabama Generals but Saturday offered a more in-depth look at Bright’s fruitful package. Bright played a pivotal role on the most dominant team. He’s got a terrific motor and provided a ton of positive activity. His outside shot looked smooth and found bottoms on a number of occasions. We saw flashes of the high level athleticism as well with some high-flying dunks. Bright certainly looks poised for a big senior season.
Brody Carney Brody Carney 6'6" | C St Clair County | 2026 AL
Brody Carney Brody Carney 6'6" | C St Clair County | 2026 AL
Despite being one of the younger, lesser known prospects, Brody Carney Brody Carney 6’6″ | C St Clair County | 2026 AL emerged as one of the top bigs in attendance. Carney understands the game and how to attack different defenses, an IQ far beyond his age. He’s a very willing screener and helped his guards create a lot of open looks in the pick and roll. Carney was also active on the glass, tallying several second chance buckets on the afternoon. Brody Carney Brody Carney 6’6″ | C St Clair County | 2026 AL will be one to keep an eye on in Alabama’s 2026 class.
