PH NorCal was there to see the players participate in fundamental drills and skills development before squaring off for a controlled scrimmage. It was the class of 2024 versus the underclassmen featuring 2025, and 2026 players. Here’s the 2024 standouts.
The 6’7 wing/forward has been steadily improving his ball handling and passing skills out on the perimeter, and in transition. He’s a legitimate 3-point shooter who can spot up in the corners or work the perimeter using screens. He’s a bit faster with improved foot work to get a hand up and defend on the wings. He’ll help on the boards. He’s got DII offers.
Highlights
He’s a strong explosive guard at 6’0. He’s improved his ball handling and passing along the perimeter. He had good finishes around the basket taking it up strong off two feet, and playing through the contact. He’s a good rebounder for his size, he plays with intensity on the defensive side of the ball, making opponents work for buckets.
Bugas is a solid ball handling point guard with vision, and is probably a pass first type guard, he found several players using the backdoor pass. He plays under control, using his dribble and body for drive and kicks, jumpers in the paint, and short corners. He dropped a couple of long 3’s off the dribble.
Aseffa has made good strides this spring and summer. He’s more of a wing with improved ball handling, and 3-point shooting. We’ve seen him hit off the dribble mid-range jumpers, and 3’s. He can drive it into the paint. At 6’5 he has the size, and getting stronger to help rebound and defend bigger players.
We’ll have to see more of Flick. He has range and good shooting form to knock down 3’s on the catch and shoot. He’s long with good movements without the ball, he runs the court in transition. He hit a few jumpers off the dribble, and helped with the rebounding, and blocked a shot.
Fenton has made good improvements to his game. He’s a bit stronger, more aggressive, and moving around the court better. At 6’5 with a solid body, he works the paint area for points, sometimes using the mid-post for face ups, and a dribble to get closer. He can hit the short corner and free throw jumpers. He’ll get rebounds.
It was our first look at Williams. He squares up well, has good balance and can knock down corner 3’s, and short corner jumpers. He has a solid body to convert shots inside through traffic, he finishes with either hand around the rim, and will help rebound.
